Howdy all!

First off I would just say that I have tried the holy search function and found nothing that helped me out so I'll just ask here

I have a problem with some Models I bought off the TGC store. The models are bookcases made by Rosstradamus.
The problem is that the models appear pitch black ingame, I've tried putting a bright light near it, added the illuminate shader to it, tried without shader, tried to add Normal maps with Bond1 shaders to it, tried the most thing I can come up with, in the editor the models shows just fine. But not Ingame, If I turn up my ambient lightning the models light up and i can see them, but once I turn my ambient light down, the bookcases darkens with it.

This is with ambient set to 0

This is with ambient set to 100

Anyone know how to fix this ?

Thanks!

I've just checked the models in question and I see what you mean by appearing dark in game. I'm not 100 percent sure why this is happening but you can fix this by switching the model from it's current 'Static' status to 'Dynamic' status.
It's best to change the (defaultstatic = 1) line in each of the models FPE files to (defaultstatic = 0).
Remember to delete any .Bin and .Dbo files before you test the models with the new changes.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

All the best of luck

I've had a similar problem as well, where I change the texture of a stock item and then it appears black in game. Another idea of fixing this is to make sure full shaders are OFF. That's what happened with me. I changed the textures and put it in full shader mode, and they were black. Changed it back to no shaders, and presto, just fine!

Hope you can resolve it,
Captain Coder

Hi again!

Captain Coder:
They are black also with the No shader effect selected in settings in the editor and also by default the models does not use any shaders and I've tried everything I can come up with.

Ross tra damus:
I tried to put them as dynamic and, haha they turned blue this time instead of pitch black, I think I'll try to redownload them

Glad (and a relief) to hear that they are working OK now.
Some strange things happen from time to time with FPSC which can be a pain at times but most issues get sorted out in the end.
Thanks for letting us know that everything is OK now.

Ps - Do you know about the 'secretbooks' hidden doorway models that these bookcases are designed to work with?

All the best of luck
