I thought I'd make a single thread to show all the FPSC ready media that I've made.

So far I've made a Sattelite Communications Dish, an old style Cast Iron Radiator and a Cafeteria Counter. All these have been made using Milkshape 3D, UV Mapped using UV Mapper Classic, and made shader ready.

As these will be going in to my game Seclusion, I won't be releasing them to the forums, instead, I will be releasing any future models that I make.

Anyway, here's some screenshots of the models I've made so far;

The first image is of the old style radiator, now smoothed to improve its looks!

The 2nd image is of the Sat Dish.

The last image is of a cafeteria counter. This was the most difficult model to make, as I had to teach myself how to make glass. The model is in 3 parts; the counter itself, the frame for the glass cover and the glass cover itself.

As always C&C are welcome, as I'm sure the models could be improved somehow

Models look great! Weve spoken about this, but personally, I feel that something isnt right with the texture on the Satellite dish. Also, IMHO the old radiator texture was better than the new one it has now... the new one really doesnt have much definition

But GREAT models so far! Now you just got to work on the texturing

Cheers,
Anayar

P.S: Let me know if you still need anything with the cafe counter (what we talked about). It looks FANTASTIC BTW

Thanks Anayar, the radiator was the most difficult one to find a texture for, I wanted it to have a dark, cast iron look to it. I also added some smoothing to it, so it didn't look so square!

At the moment, I'm using what textures I can find on the internet, as I'm not at the stage yet where I can hand make my own. Consequently CG Textures is becoming one of my most visited sites!!

The sat dish I've played around with a lot, mainly with the shaders. In-game, it looks quite metallic, as does the radiator, unfortunately, FPSC screenshots just never seem to show media at their best

I must admit, of all of them the cafeteria counter is my favourite, even though I had to make a 3 part model. Again, it looks more metallic in-game than it does in the screenshot. It looks even better in the level I created it for

I've still got a lot to learn, especially if I want to do the animated overhead crane we've spoken about!!

Nice models, particularly the glass counter. Some smart thinking there

Thanks! Not so sure about smart thinking with the counter, I only did it in 3 parts, because I couldn't figure out how to make just the glass transparent, without making the rest transparent as well!!

Oh, I thought you were doing that to avoid the funny things FPSC does to transparent objects!

That's what I meant about making the rest transparent. I remember reading a thread a while ago, about a 'Brain Dome' model someone had made, where the glass dome on top was making the rest of the model appear transparent. I didn't know how to prevent that from happening to my model, so I made it in 3 parts

Very clever!

I saw your original communications satelite when it first came out, and I think the old texture looks a bit better, I have to say. This one looks like... um... sand

But the other stuff looks great! I am working on modeling as well. Hope things work out for your game!

Thanks! Modelling is good fun isn't it?!

The 'sand' on the sat dish is supposed to be rust!

After all the comments I've had about the sat dish's texture, I'll be taking a look at that next, to see if there is anything that can be done to improve it (I do listen to C&C!).

I've started a new model. It isn't going to be used in my game, it is just something I decided I fancied having a go at making!

It's going to be an old style Grandfather Clock. Why a Grandfather Clock? Well, I just like the look of them (I like old furniture and antiques) and thought it would be a good model to make!

Obviously, I still have a lot to do with it, I've only made the basic shape so far. I still need to Make all the details. I'm planning on making a glass front where a (simplified) pendulum can be seen inside! I also need to add a decorative top to the clock section. The clock face will probably just be a texture.

Will it really be suitable for an FPSC game? No idea, like I said, it's just something I fancy having a go at!!

Thanks mate!

I didn't mention in that post that I'm also thinking of animating the pendulum. I thought it would be a good learning experience, ready for when I attempt that crane I've been talking about!

Here's an update on my Grandfather Clock model.

I've now more or less finshed the main body of it. I have also made the pendulum which will be animated. The front door will be transparent so that the swinging pendulum will be visible!

Now I just need to do the animation, UV map the model, texture it, then, finally, make it FPSC ready!

Looks GREAT so far! Maybe a shot without the grid would make it look clearer Oh, and you inspired me to start work on a Grandfather clock myself Let me know if youd like to see it

Again, looks great so far... cant wait to see what you do with the texture and animation

Cheers,
Anayar

Here's the finished Grandfather Clock!

It's shader ready, but not animated yet. I will edit the model in Milkshape and add the animation later on, once I've got my head around animating!!

[edit]I've just realised that I forgot to add the weight that power the mechanism! Oh well, back to Milkshape![/edit]

Bruce,

Very nice clock! I must say. On the animation bit I can make a animation tutorial and post it here, but you will need to import ur model to blender because I can model in blender and fragmotion but I do it better in blender! If you would like me to post that tutorial here give me a buzz and I will add it if you are interested? Cheers Mate!

Thanks! I've managed to animate the swinging pendulum in Milkshape without any problems. The thing I'm stuck on now, is how to set the animation up in the model's .fpe file.

I've started making my next model. It's a four poster bed. So far I've done the mattress, the bed base and the canopy, now I need to do the upholstery for it. Why am I making furniture instead of making models for my game? Simply because I happen to like antique furniture! There is another reason, which will (hopefully) be revealed at a later date!

Oh dear, triple post

Anyway, to renew interest in my thread, and to stop me from multi-posting, I've got a couple of screens of my latest work;

This is what I've done so far with my four poster bed model. I just need to add some detail to the rest of the wood textures.

This next image is of a 'Gasometer' (old Town-Gas tank). This is going to be part of the pack I'm planning on making, the theme of which will be 'Oil Refinery, Gas Works & Heavy Industry'.

As always, C&C welcome. I'd particularly welcome ideas about how to improve my texturing, which is my weak point at the moment.
