Hi there. Is it posible to see an ecrypted dds ?. As we all know , dds is a format of image that we can load in Dbpro, but some of them for some reason are protected specially those for shaders and don't let us see the image.... I can load it and when I paste to screen I see nothing...some other dds works like any other image any idea ?

Cheers.

Not without further details. Which DDS formats are you talking about? There are many. Are you talking about 2D or one of the 3D image formats (i.e. cube map and volume textures)? Could you upload an example so we can look at it ourselves?

I saw a thread that you pointed to another member to see a flashlight example. I can't open and see its image.

The image I can`t see is spotlight2.dds

Download example

I have had success in the past using Gimp and a plugin available to view DDS images. However I am unsure if it works with any image. Worth a try though.

I have googled and saw a videotut in youtube that says exactly the same...using Gimp and a plug in, but I couldn't see how it works as the vitheo was in bad quality and the sound was bad as well. So you think that any dds could do to make a cone for a flashlight ? I have try my own image but doesn't work

Edited- I just realize you say you was unsure.
I have found a Nvida plug in for Photoshop. I will try with it .

Cheers.

Finally, I downloaded the Gimp and plugin ...all free , as DVader said, and it really works. Now I can change the focus of a flashlight rather than round, could be any shape ...star , square or a seagull

When we open the image dds in Gimp, we have to work with main surface(positive z) that's all !!

Thanks DVader

Edited

For people who love Photoshop, I found a Nvidia plug-in which is super editing dds !!

Cheers.

Yep.

chafari, your image is a standard RGB DDS cubemap so you need cubemap capable software to open it.

I just though I'd add that a program called PaintDotNet can open, edit, and save DDS images by default. Really easy to use too.
