This is another game I have decided to make called Close Combat, after that disaster infestation i thought i better start again but on something different so i thought of close combat.
The story takes place when an elite soldier ( please tell me cool elite soldier companies such as black ops etc ) is sent on a final mission before he retires, it is at a russian army base he gets captured trying to disable a nuclear bomb. From here he tries to escape from a high security base and that is when the first proper game play comes in it is going to be a stealth action kinda game so im going to be working on this for a while i will put a screeny of stuff i have so far in a later post thanks.

Make sure you have a Screenshot before you make a post. But the game sounds alright.

There's always the special air service, SEALS, Spetnaz and all that jazz.

Use SEARCH for Cosmic Prophet's Landscape Kit on the Models & Media board. He's given the community a whole Winter Set with ground segments, cliffs, trees and props.

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

Wrong board bud but if your gonna post in the WIP board look at the work in progress thread requirements first or you'll have your thread locked by a moderator there... But anyway your game sounds cool

Reminds me I need to finish my Snow Pack. I will try to make it x9 compatible as well.

I know very little about shader conventions in x9. Is there a common shader that you all use for spec, normal and diffuse entities (both for static and dynamic) and can you use the alpha channel of the spec map for illumination? If I can get that info then I can make it x9 compatible, me thinks.

I have snowy trees, rocks, 3 shacks, a snow decal, several varieties of crates, segments, and cabin segments (designed by Thoughtwire) as well as an ice river segment that blends with one of the snow floor segments (also contributed by Johnny and Ed @ Thoughtwire).

If this is of interest to you and I can figure out the shader requirements, I will be happy to help.

No, we have "norm_alphaspec_tangentbasis" for static entities
and usually "bumpent" on dynamic ones. However, I prefer different shaders for dynamic entities.

It would be best if you just add the shadermaps and leave the effect field empty.

I dont think that the FPE in X10 is so different from X9 so it should work.

I make serious coffee - so strong it wakes up the neighbors.

Wait... so they are trying to destroy their own base?

I think he means he's trying to disable the launch of a nuclear warhead

As for the Special Forces orginizations, US Navy SEALs, SAS, SASR, Spetsnaz (Well, that's Russian, so I guess that wouldn't work), Canadian SOFCOM, Australian SOCOMD, others...

Anyway, if you're going to post the WIP, as others have said, please do read the rules.

Vent.
