Hello again,

I was looking at a well designed model on the internet. It comes in a .x format and it has all of the textures needed.

But I was wondering if it is straight forward to get the animations into fpsc? As well, do you need to know how to script to do this or is their a tutorial somewhere?

Last question for sure, can the model be set up to be like any other character model?

here is the link to the page I found the model on.
http://www.dexsoft-games.com/models/hero.html

Thanks,

Uber

Well, the animation is easy. When you create the fpe of your character just adjust the animations listed in it to match the new ones. (if you are using downloaded scripts people made you might have to adjust those as well, but it's not that hard). The question I can't answer is the "firespot". I would like to know what to do about the firespot bone as well. Maybe someone can help us both out with that.

I look at it like a character is a big "flipbook" like you used to make as a kid. When the character walks then you flip pages 1-24. If someone else drew the flipbook then you might need to use (for example) 36-60. I also try to think everything through in steps. What happens first, then, what happens next, etc. Might take me longer but I get the results I'm looking for (usually)

yea sounds pretty good,

I always thought it was better to do a good job, even if it may take longer.

If the FIRESPOT are not in the model or are called something different, that could be a problem, but not the end of the world.
You could probably get it into fragmotion or milkshape and attatch a firespot to the existing skeleton with out trashing the skinned Mesh. But with out a model program it would be impossible.

Plus x files are pretty hard to change even in the best model programs. Better to take the mesh (.obj) and re animate it the way you want.

There is still a lot you can do with those models from that link with out changing the animations.

In my brain I was trying to create a scene, where the character you play as is in third person but it may be hard getting all the animations to work properly.

I may reconsider the project idea.

cheers,
