I have begun some final work on an fps, such as x. models and bitmaps. I find that pak files and data files seem to help achieve a very proffesional finish. I'd like to put most of my media files into some sort of collective file and extract them as required.

I'm currently trying to master file commands. One particular one is the WRITE DIRLOCK and READ DIRBLOCK commands. I get the impression that I could put a directory into a data file and extract it as required. Can someone provide snippets of these commands in action?

Or is there anyway that I could extract files from an actual pak file other than just the BSP maps?

It's enough to make you wonder if your on the right planet!!! or
Get it straight! War breaks out and nobody shows up!!!
