Just stick with the first one they are all the same game.

There is nothing to entice me to COD every game has the same look, the same feel and is just as boring as the last. The campaign story is bad and dull, and the multiplayer has no challenge at all. I don't see how they can keep sending out the same game with a few new levels and selling it for £40 day light robbery.

The only reason I'm actually getting MW3 is to see how everything ends. God forbid COD multiplayer.

HELLO.
Have any of you touched the BF3 campaign yet and subsequently realized how terrible it is? It's like the epitome of everything I hate about most of these "modern shooters" coming out now. What I'm talking about is how the entire single player campaign is one huge scripted event where all you are doing is sitting and watching take place.
From what I've noticed it seemed to stem from the cod campaigns mainly, and has progressively gotten more and more popular. Games like homefront (which is awful by the way) also have these.
The BF3 campaign is so scripted up to the point where you literally can't do anything other than the specific route the game designers already planned out for you; it's one giant movie, not a game.
Sure, I haven't finished the bf3 campaign yet so I probably shouldn't judge, but the thing is I probably never will finish it either. When it comes to the point where I literally can't open a door on my own without there having to be some constantly talking npc next to me slowly walking there surely is an issue.
Basically the bf3 campaign is just one giant, mediocre action movie so far, it's a very pretty one, but come the crap on.

Now I do realize that BF games are not made for the single player but since they apparently threw a bunch of development time making that campaign I feel like I am allowed to complain. I wish they'd just stop including campaigns all together in these types of games, since they never end up any good anyways.

Hello, I am Seb.

That's your opinion. Myself and numerous others don't subscribe to it. The multiplayer itself is better in many aspects than BF (and I play both).

also matter of opinion i think the MP aspect is vastly different: I definitly like to spawn and shoot a bit: i think the mp in Cod mw is.. short range, hectic infantry shooting and I like that a lot. (over 100 hours mw2 says that)
BF 3 on the other hand has many aspects to it: flying, tanks, cars etc which also is fun.

Its all subjective, saying otherwise is just short minded.

I like both Cod, BF and RO for the record: all vastly different games.

The game itself is amazing. I was playing with my clan talking in TS3 and it's the most fun I've ever had in a video game.

This ought to stir up quite a mess, but I really liked the Golden Eye remake for Wii... Maybe I'm crazy but, the multiplayer was just ridiculously awesome. Does it compare to its predecessor? I'm not sure... But I can't respect the COD line of games... and the wild run and gun is so much faster paced... You're always in the action... On the other hand BF3 represents the other hand of the spectrum I've also enjoyed. I won't go into detail hating COD though... The game's okay. (But at least Quik and I find common ground on RO2...the other-other side of the spectrum )

I'm Playing it now, the lack of LAN doesn't bother me at all though. I find the game's campaign and multiplayer extremely fun, Really realistic, The gameplay is quite amazing, great cinematics, enjoying it a lot more than any other war game i've probably ever played.

I have barely 50... xD not a big fan of TF2, its fun though! Not a big fan of how items work though, i would prefer to buy the game and get the items gradually.

What makes you think it's going to end? The only reason MW2's campaign was so short was so they could make MW3. They might do the same so they could make a MW4.

Yeah, I'll probably not want it if they drag it out further. Though They had every right to make it a trilogy, three-episode series are generally a good length

MW3 doesn't entice me at all. Looks exactly like MW2, not a good thing- at all.
MW2 was extremely repetitive, badly choreographed, graphics were out of par for it's time, I literally FORCED myself to finish it, hoping something good would happen (that moment never came), and that's just the campaign, don't even get me started on the multiplayer...

Quote: "and that could be said for BF, just a note"

Eh, no. In all of the battlefields i've ever played the experience was quite different, having played and beat:
Battlefield 2, 1943, Bad Company 1&2, and Battlefield 3
must say, VERY different (but all good) experiences.

Now, with COD, having played:
COD 1, Big Red One, Modern Warfare 1&2, World at War, and Black Ops
all experiences had eerie similarities.

World at War is the only CoD I ever really liked. You don't die instantly every time you go around a corner, the levels are more open and the ww2 weapons were harder to use and more unique than any of the modern ones, which made it more challenging and gave it a nice feel.

After MW they definitely should never had made MW2 and I cannot believe anyone is even thinking of buying MW2: 2. Why are you so blind?

MW 2 has a nice campaign - not my liking, but its definitly not bad.

Mw 3 looks very good in the MP aspect, definitly getting it: i have seen videos of it and iam aware that the MP is bascly "the same" as you phrase it: but in reality THAT GOES for BF 2, 3 etc
unreal tournament 2004 and 3 is the same HOW OCULD U EVEN BUY THE THIRD OMG

youre being extremely narrow minded, saying Cod mw3 is the same as cod mw2
but saying BF3 is different than the rest.

But it's no different than all the other arguments that occur when people have a preference. Playstation users will continue to say that PSN is better than Live and vice versa. Just like Android phone users who think they have a better phone because they dislike Apple and vice versa.

Wouldn't it be a boring world if we all liked the same stuff.

Also both MW and BF are rubbish and you should all be playing The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific for your FPS needs.

I bought neither UT 2004 or 3, but I can clearly see that they actually made an effort to improve the graphics, which is one thing that MW2, MW2: Black Ops and MW2: 2 apparently forgot to do. It also looks like their graphics department didn't get the memo that we live in 2011, not 2005.

But alas, mindless arcade shooters appeal to the opinionated masses... we will just have to find a way to survive in this harsh world.

MW2 and MW2 black ops is running on the same engine, i like to see Black ops as an expansion.

MW3 on the other hand HAS better graphics.
and it also has improved gameplay, which is the main thing.

Hi guys! CoD here...just want to tell you a bit about myself:

-Spawn in the middle of a battle, shoot and get points. Repeat until death. Then repeat until death again.

-If you feel that you aren't getting enough points, feel free to swap to annoying, OP weapons such as claymores and noobtubes: no skill required

-Another player better than you? That's ok! Our carefully designed 'balanced' killstreak system makes sure that if you are losing, you can never ever come back.

-And if you verse someone good enough, we might even give you the honour of not being able to play the game at all. Anyone who gets a 25 killstreak can choose to end the game instantly at their will; because if you don't have 2000 hours game time and no job, you don't deserve to keep playing

-Need to get into an enemy building? Easy! Just get out your RPG, blow down a wall, rush in and surprise any camping enemy inside Oh no wait...that's a different game. You will just have to go in through the front door while 2 12 year olds sit motionless with their grenade launchers aimed at it. Enjoy your lead.

-If getting killed by enemy 12 year olds isn't enough for you, we can put a few in your team to keep you company as well They are the backbone of our dedicated player base and will make sure that all the "hardscopers" (and their mums) get all the yelling and screaming over mic they deserve.

-What? You're saying you actually want to do cool stuff? That's crazy talk. Why would anyone want to pilot a chopper or fighter jet? As if you would want to roll your heavy armour through the streets and change the tide of battle for your team! What you need is lots of mines and attack dogs to go out and do the killing for you while you sit there doing nothing. That is what makes me so great

Not campaign-wise or multiplayer-wise (which is still very similar in all CODs), gameplay-wise, nothing that i recall ever changes, at all really, though i think my worst complaint about it all, is the death sequence in the campaign mode, the camera suddenly hitting the ground.

What I dislike about COD is that the games very much seem on-rails, and as such it's really linear. You just run from A to B all the time, shooting a few bad guys along the way, while the game informs you in numerous ways what you have to do. This doesn't seem to have changed much from game to game, in fact it might be getting worse with the newer games. The pointless jet plane sequence in Black Ops is an example of this.

The COD games seem designed for non-gamers, with things like "low ammo" appearing on the screen when you run out of ammo, and your gun automatically switching out when you run out, as well as the gun automatically switching if you try to dry-fire with it. Again, something that seems to be getting worse with each new game.

Well, ill get MW3, ill most likely get BF3, ill be happy playing RO2
and ill get on with my life, without caring about whom i am playing against in either game, nor the age of the person playing.

Deathstreaks too. Rewarding the bads that can't handle proper FPSes so they have to resort to a game that rewards them for being subpar.

BTW, the campaign for BF3 is also really linear. Although I suppose it has reason as the whole campaign is basically a marine's retelling of what happened in the last couple months. If it let's you roam free then the storyline basically gets messed up.

EDIT: It was so linear and it made me ragequit and play the MP, which is about 9001x better.

Maybe so, but BF2 didn't really have a proper campaign mode so you can't blame them. COD on the other hand have used the same campaign mode over and over again, with seemingly little change (except maybe giving the player less and less control).

With that said, I'm not particularly interested in either series at the moment. A friend left his new 360 here with a copy of BF3 and I haven't been bothered to play it. Kinect is far more interesting to me right now...

Why do people do this? Bf3 series is a completely different beast from CoD. Bf3 focus's on squad combat and objective based games with large maps and vehicles. A war simulator in essence with player-ability as a side. CoD focus's on instant gratification, player-ability and has war sim as its side.

Its like saying a helicopter and a jet are the same since they both fly and are used in war. Just no.

Only had 1/2 hours to play so far since i've been preoccupied. It's shaped up pretty well now considering the state of the beta. Weapon unlocks are completely reorganized and everything has been rebalanced.
There are still a few snags of course such as the spawning messing up sometimes. Conquest point and there was heavy fire down a bottleneck alley, i spawned on the point area and was thrown into a building surrounded by enemies. I killed 7 of them before being killed. Re spawned there again the death after, killed alot of them by throwing a few grenades before dying.

Makes them feel better I suppose. I and MANY others enjoy playing Call of Duty. I also play BF:BC2 as well. I prefer COD's Campaigns to BF's. I couldn't care less what other people feel is superior.

I'm a more extreme case; the only "war shooter" I've played through to the end was the very first "Medal of Honor" for the PS1.

Never played any Battlefield, only played 2 minutes of COD4 and realized that it's nothing I wanna play and ignored all following "war shooters" that came out after those.

I don't understand, what the thing with "authentic war games" is anyway, I'm not against violent or realistic videogames, but why, why does everyone want to play war in the most realistic and violent way possible? Especially the COD series really tries way to hard, to shock people (remember that pointless 'kill all civillians on the airport' mission of COD XYZ? (Before anyone mentions GTA; in GTA you'll get in trouble for doing so, it's not forced, not made to be as realistic as possible, etc.))...

Also, best multiplayer experiences I've had so far: Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004.

But its a game. Its not life altering, biblical, live by life or whatever other crap. Its a game so yes you should not get upset when someone criticise something you had no stake in making. I cant be the only one who thinks like this.

The game play is solid, had a single crash earlier but eh. There are alot of laggy servers which are awful but once you settle into a great server get a good squad that play as a squad, then happy days all around. The Scar-h is overpowered but that'll be balanced out so. Solid game pretty fun. Get it if you like this kind of game. Simples

I'd laugh at them, then tell 'em to do one since everyone I know could't really take something like that seriously. I mean its a game. Sure people are entitled to there opinions an all but full fine-tooth combing details to one-up them is just sad aha. Sure the usual banter but that's normally taking the pee out of people who actually do take it seriously.

It's like the people who rage at games. Why? I play games to unwind and relax not raise my blood pressure :') It must just be a frame of mind thing but yeah, whatever I want to play ill play. If mw3 catches my fancy ill buy it, play it till I'm bored then go do something else. Rather relaxed point of view

And responding that way to these things is also childish.

Edit:

Strangely enough I've been playing the original MOH the past couple of days. A few days ago I cleaned up our old consoles and set them up, and found the MOH CD among some junk in the attic. It's a great game.

I was playing with Lizardmen and was considering moving to skaven or vampire counts... x)

my point was that usually people DO get upset over these kind of things and its really nothing weird, since i would say its a vast majority that does

I think people are quite rightly jumping on the BF3 single player campaign, maybe the developers decided that a huge open world single player mode is kinda pointless considering the huge world multiplayer aspects. I haven't even tried the single player, but that's really more because I'm playing multiplayer all of the time. The co-op campaign is quite short, but well put together and a is actually a rare challenge, die and you start from scratch, I found it challenging even on easy mode.
Multiplayer is where it's at though, I can't remember enjoying an online shooter so much. If they sacrificed some time on the single player mode in favor of making sure multiplayer is balanced and fun, then I think they made the right move.

For those of you who think BF3 and all modern shooters are way too scripted, You guys should check out the 2010 medal of honor. The actual FPS gameplay is really good, I cant describe it, you should really play it and get the feel of the game. When i first started playing i noticed that the way i play is a lot different than any other FPS i played, and that the actual FPS element is a lot more fun.

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them

I was in the BETA for MoH, it was good! but i hated the unlock system - it was slow as heck (RO2 style, only that this game is more like COD in MP - fast paced but slow unlocks doesnt go well imo)
