September 3D Compo: "Vehicular Modeling"

From David Gervais:
Quote: "It's time to get your ideas in motion, weather it be slow motion, super sonic, smooth sailing, road gripping, sky rocketing, earth-bound or anything in between. If you can ride on it, in it, under it, over it, behind it, beside it, or in front of it and it can be called a Vehicle. Then Build it and show us your creation.

Keep in mind this is The Game Creator's Forums so any entries that are geared towards being used in games will get extra brownie points.

This Compo will run through to September 26. (giving you 4 full weekends to work your magic)

Cheers and have fun!"

Cheers to David for another sauceome competition idea and equally stunning banner!
Good luck guys and have fun!

Quick question; Can I enter multiple models for the compo?? I have a low-poly one which is almost finished, but considering I have so much time left could I also enter a detailed Portfolio piece I'm doing into this compo?

Cheers,
Anayar

anayar, post the one you get done first, and if you have time to make the more detailed one, post it and tell us that is your final entry.

We never stop people from making multiple entries, but only one can be used for judging, 'You' need to simply let us know which model is your final entry.

Also, making multiple models might help when you make your beauty render.

Cheers!

Seems a lot of peps are doing 'wheel' based vehicles. Hope to see some more types in the comp.

I ate all the waffles . I've been doing an internship with Uni, so I've become a little less visible on the boards.
But I'm here, always watching...... always...... watching

Yay! i'm unique! but, yeah, here's a first attempt.

My Mind is very odd, it can memorize hundreds of commands, memorize 2 dictionary's worth of words, and make detailed 3D models. Yet my mind has trouble with the most simple calculations.

The only instance where a 'Robot' might be called a 'Vehicle' is if it's a 'Mech', since you ride in that. Maybe an exoskeleton could also be called a vehicle. But a pure robot? Not sure about this, is a remote controlled mechanical device also a 'vehicle'? As in a remotely operated vehicle? underwater probe? bomb disposal robot?

You are stretching the imagination a bit, make what you want and the other judges and I will determine if it fits in the compo theme.

Cheers!

Hey all,

This is the first time I've entered the comp. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to look back on this attempt and see how far I have come.

I figured I'd do something unique and designed an underwater vehicle.

If I have time to work on it more, I'll post up a new version.

Cheers.

Also, let me know if I need to post a DL of the model here too

I will be gathering all the entries tomorrow morning for judging, so you have until then to get in any final entries or renders you want.

Just so you have an idea I get up around 5am Eastern time. 21 hours from now.

quick question before it all ends.

Is an animal (such as a horse or elephant) that has a saddle or something similar on it and\or defined as a ride-able creature) considered a vehicle?

@mike5424:
IDK... theyre both stunning mate Id say take your pick. And quick question; How do you get your render to look like that? Im assuming your using max here, so i was just wondering if you could give me a few tips on materials and rendering techniques to get my models looking like your renders (basically shiny, but not too shiny, and overall a very clean, nice look).

thanks for any help!

Cheers,
Anayar

Gamer X, I'm afraid that an animal would not be considered a 'vehicle'. I think to qualify as a 'vehicle' it would need to be man made, so a chopper in the shape of an animal or something, could pass, but just adding a saddle to an animal makes it a 'mount, not a vehicle.

Cheers!

Alright... Final Renders
I didnt get an answer as to weather I should attach the model, but seeing as others havent, Im going to assume I dotn have to

Final Render:

DISCLAIMER:
The scene where the model is rendered is NOT completely made by me. The Plane is ofcourse MY Model and MY Texture, but the Enemy planes are from gfx-3d-model.com. The background is from an image I found online. All rendering of 3D Models is done by me.

Cheers,
Anayar

The winners will be as follows..

3D Master: Anayar's F-22A Raptor

3D Best Model: Mgarand's Big Daddy Land rover

3D Best Model: Mike5424's Sci-Fi Vehicle

You may notice that this month we gave out 2 'Best Model' awards. That's mainly because the only textured model was the overall winner and given the 3D Master title.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who entered. Now get cracking with this month's compo!

Cheers!
