Not with Vanilla, nor any FPSC Mod at this stage. You could be able to mod the source to allow for this switch on loading, but I don't see why you would want this? Making one level look amazing with shaders, and the next one will look horrible in comparison.

@silvester:
one level with full fog (outdoor), the next inside a building with full shaders.

just for my understanding:
it is not possible to setup a variable-trigger inside the .fx-file, right?
if "no, this could be done" is the answer, this could be the solution for changing shaders on the run.

has anyone ever tried?

you could use a script to disable fog and enable it,
set as 2 triggers one for turning on and of course the other for off,

i cant remember where i seen the script tho, i think it may have been a custom one made

and i think somthing like this infulance you into making one, oh have not even tried to work it all out as im no scripter.

:plrinzone:fog=1,fogred=255,foggreen=255,fogblue=30

Or another option is to use a decal like the puff puff or the blue decal and setup as fog/mist for the level required, and so you can manage it more effectivly, by size and where to position,
you don't just have to use one, you can have as many as you like, to cover what parts you need.

i know how to use fog, spudnick, my whole game is full of it

it was just a sample for sylvester why someone want to turn shaders on/off on the fly because shaders and fog dont work together as you know.

"Is it possible to have fullshaders on in certain levels and off in others?"

turning on and off fog works, but how to do it with shaders? my thoughts where about integrating 2 var-conditions into the shader-fx itself. var=1 > shader-settings=1, var=2 > shader-settings=2. possible to use fpe-conditions/actions in fx-files ?

Sorry for wrong type,

but now i undetsand what you mean
Would be creat for an option to switch on and off the shader as you mentioned.

and may be you could have the settings in the shader itself.

May be having a Var setting could be the way, and so only the levels, i mean layers and will use the shader that is in assigned in the variable.

Just a thought, what about asking some one over in the Dark Basic pro discussion thread, cus their are some decent guys who are good at adapting shaders, as where i got help for my grass shader.

I hope you can get one sorted out cus im very interested in the idea myself.

You could try making segments/entities for the outside use no shader for the object.

It may be possible in vanilla. I remember seeing some suspicious code once, just some scripting actions which changed the shader used. So it may be possible. Might look for it again.

Now it can be done in 1.19 with posteffect 'none' or switch to other options in trigger fields.
