Hi All,

I tried last night to output my Dark Basic Pro program to my TV.

The program works fine in all modes on my laptop, but if I set it to fullscreen all I get on the TV us a black screen with the mouse cursor.
Setting it to full desktop works OK though.

I was just wondering whether there is something I haven't done. Its not too big a deal since it will run in full desktop.

If not, does can anyone explain why fullscreen exclusive does not work when cloned on a TV, just for our understanding.

Thanks

It may be that your graphics card has no DirectX capabilities when using TVout.

Ben, are you using the laptop and are hooking it up to your TV ? I have done that with no problems. The trick is knowing your refresh rates on the TV and making sure your not going above it. IF you have set your Sync Rate too high in your code, the TV will black out.

I had the same problem. To fix it all I did was use the "sync on" or "sync off" commands. I did not use the "sync rate" command, because that would black out my TV.

Hope this helps.

I personally have never seen that happen. If the computer itself can handle DirectX without a TV, I do not see why it cannot use it for a TV. At least ALL my ATI video cards could. I have never seen one that could not. Not sure about NVidia since I never used a TV to one of their cards. Now you have me curious.

Thanks everyone. I'll have a play around with the sync rate and see.

The graphics card in this laptop is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 420M. I'm not claiming to know its DX TV out abilities, but I can play things like Arkham Asylum on the TV, or X3 so....

Yes that card for sure will allow you to see DirectX. So thats not the issue. Try out what I was talking about with the sync rate and see if that helps.

To have full speed on your TV, you will have to fiddle about with your display settings. Your monitor is always the default "Primary" device, which means all 3D and graphics acceleration is done on that screen an no other (unless your card support multiple device acceleration). If you switch the "Primary" display over to your TV then that device will have the full acceleration and will run 3D smooth.
