Hey guys, I've been following TGC since 2007 officially 2008 and love their work, but don't you think that TGC should create and release a great/decent to good game/s? I mean like a MMO or MMORPG something to showoff the power and ability of their software. Unity does this every update it seems. Maybe this way the name TGC can become more public.

Hit me up on what you think or re-direct me to another thread

TGC are a relatively small company, they don't really have the resources to put into making a MMO whilst keeping DarkBasic, AppGameKit and FPSC updated.

Fair play.. But! they have quiet a bit of fans, DLL programmers and others who would be more than willing to volunteer their service to improve TGC. I for one would love to see the DBPro compiler upgraded to one that supports DX10(If I had the knowledge I would prob volunteer solely to gain experience), personally I try and promote DBPro to programming newbies and use my own project to get them to use TGC products.

But back to the small company thing, maybe they could create a section of this forum for .dll makers and other programmers to solve or submit their own code or ideas to current TGC products.... just a thought.

Sorry if I wasted anyone's time with this thread but I just wanted get this off my chest

Anybody can make a game or utility for selling on this website already... it just needs to be worthy.

As much as i know about Unity, it is basically a shooter engine. Not nearly as much work it is to do something to showcase the abilities as with DBPro from scratch.

-In.Dev.X: A unique heavy story based shoot'em ~35%
-CoreFleet: An underground commander unit based RTS ~15%
-TailsVSEggman: An Sonic themed RTS under development for idea presentation to Sega ~15%

I like the cloth example with the ghost train, that's a nice demo.

I totally agree here. Unity has some great fx. But it cannot compare to DarkBasic Pro as far as customizations and program-ability. AND if you put enough work into it, DBP CAN look and act like Unity. Its up to the programmer. That's the beauty of DBP.

Although I agree that it would be nice, its really not needed. We who use DBP just have to put a little extra effort into our programming to get the same fx. HOWEVER, if DBP did have some extra commands to make our lives easier in coding those Shaders / fx then there would be a lot of "happier" coders out there.

For darkbasic to use DX10 fully, I think it'd require a full rewrite. I'm not sure though.

Hmm I think I've heard that somewhere before, you might be correct. Also in terms of ease, DBPro wins the race over unity and after some careful thought maybe, I think just maybe the biggest gaps between unity and DBPro are the fx and probably the fact that unity is event driven.

Personally I cant wait to see what TGC has up their sleeves, I just hope that they keep thing moving, but who know maybe 2012 on of the TGC staff win the lottery and expand the size of their company(pipe dreams).

You could try DLL Talk Lots of info on creating DLLs as well as discussions on existing ones.

I dunno, the RPG game I'm making is a pretty good all-round showcase of their technology... Have a look in the WIP forum:
