@Phoenix_insane

"I was wondering if anyone knew how to import gmax files into DBpro. "

No, and its not likely anyone here will. The gmax file format is propriety and in order to get access to it you have to pay some thousands of dollars(i can't remember the exact amount) up front. And on top of that, you are not allowed to make any converters for it in any popular file format. You have to have your own file format(which, I'm guessing you are not allowed to release) to convert it to. An exception to this rule that I know of is the tempest gamepack. It has an exporter for the .md3 file format. Other than that I don't know of any others.

It's strange the "gmax costs thousands of dollars to use" myth keeps cropping up. That's only if you want to make your own gamepaks.

It's true you can't alter the software or make your own exporters, but as far as me and others out there can tell that's the only restriction.

Luckily you can already export to .md3 through the Tempest gamepak.

If you're worried maybe you could contact discreet directly and tell them what you want to do, and get a direct answer.

There's no comparison with gmax and other cheap/free software unfortunately.

Yes, and that was basically what he was talking about.

"It's true you can't alter the software or make your own exporters, but as far as me and others out there can tell that's the only restriction."

Yes, a restriction that requires thousands of dollars to remove. How exactly was anything I said incorrect? He wanted to get access to the file format. I told him it costs thousands to do that and there were also several restrictions were placed on you even if you did cough up the money. Was I wrong?

"There's no comparison with gmax and other cheap/free software unfortunately. "

Yes, there is. Milkshape if you have $20 or Blender for free.
