Hello again, does anyone know of a good DBpro shader to make things look like they're glowing?

Over and out!

That depends on what you mean by glowing. If you mean something like glowing monster eyes it would be easy to edit an existing shader to use an "emissive map" to make parts look like they are glowing. What shader did you have in mind?

Hello again, revenant!

I've been playing around with them a bit trying to make my own, and I've come up with this so far:

But I'd like them to have a real sort of magical haze around them. Perhaps an emissive shader would be good! I've been playing around inside Dark Shader with some mixed results, but I just thought I'd get some peoples opinions on any particularly good ones.

While I've got you, too, I've been trying to make a nice water shader, but everything I've come up with, when put into my game, glows SUPER bright, rather than just being nearly transparent and reflect/refractive... Any ideas?

Hi CumQuaT, It looks like you made your own emissive shader, nice job. I am still not quite sure of what type of effect you are after, what do you mean by "magical haze"? Can you find a picture?

Do you mean that you want the circles to illuminate the surroundings? If so, you could try using cube lights to project an image onto the walls/floor.

You could also consider using some ghosting to make the circles appear less solid, or you could add another set of slightly larger rings with ghosting.

You may be able to use additional passes to give the rings a meatier look (as in the attached pic). That would mean a bit of a performance hit but if you keep the models low-poly and few, you probably wouldn't notice.

Without a demo to play around with I cant be sure, but when I run into problems like that (assuming that the shader does what it is supposed to) it usually comes from incorrect camera syncing/masking/or range.

Hello Revenant,

I'm curious. How did you get the multiple pass effect happening? That's quite cool...

Thank you Chafari! My game has the option to turn off shaders, so this might come in handy!

A nice post-bloom shader could do that.

Mark Blosser made a fantastic one for FPSC which I use in all my games. It'll give the rings a nice blooming emissive effect.

Thanks for the tip, Mobiius. I'm currently using Evolved Software's advanced lighting pack which comes with a nice bloom shader. What I'm more looking for is something to override the in-game lighting and just be REALLY effing bright with a bit of a haze around it (like a bloom, but independent of post processing)
