I have a quad core i7 2600 @ 3.4 GHz.
I have an nVidia 570 video card with 1.28 Gigs of DDR5 RAM running at 878 MHz about.
It has 16 Gigabytes of DDR3 RAM.

I make a RAM disk and copy DarkBasic to it from my SSD, all 560 Megabytes and ~2400 files over.

Guess what?

When I start DarkBasic (from RAMDISK), and it starts "Dark Basic Professional Activation Service"..... EVERYTHING GOES TO A CRAWL.

It takes EIGHT seconds for the task bar at the bottom of the screen to slide up, it takes EIGHT seconds for notepad to start. It takes EIGHT seconds to open the txt file so that I can retrieve the activation code. "Copy and Paste" from the mouse? FORGET IT!

So, 3.4 GHz times 4 cores = 13.6 GHz times 8 seconds = 108.8 GHz is what I would require to get a reaction for a given action in ONE SECOND.

This is using windows 7 professional..... Hardly "professional" I'd say.

If all the "1"s are in the right place, it'll work like a charm.

Why do you bother to put Darkbasic Pro on a ramdisk? Once you activate it on the hard drive the activation file should be copied into the ramdisk with the rest of the files.

Heh, I made the mistake of installing it to RAM disk, copying it to my SSD, and didn't activate it BEFORE saving my "master" copy.

If all the "1"s are in the right place, it'll work like a charm.

My old Amiga could do RAM disks perfectly well. It's taking Microsoft a loooong time to catch up

I think my bbc32k ramdisk could do one disk quicker.

Yea Bigglesworth is correct. Your actually only using 1 Core for DarkBasic Pro. It does not use multiple cores nor does it have hyper-thread support for your programs. Sad to say.

You CAN however add multi-thread support if you ever needed too, for your programs. ( There is a thread on this somewhere )

Correct, you MUST activate first before calling it into RAMDisk.
