Tip of advice: Never put your model to a black background. We can't see your model!

Unless the model has Ambient Occlusion applied, then it looks a lot better.

2.49 FTW But anyway, Nice models!, but the render is very blurry i'd suggest using a better render filter such as Catrom or something of the like, because it's very hard to see many fine details.

Good models, though I think you should work on your lighting for the renders to show them off more. Try multiple lights or a basic scene with radiosity switched on

What software are you using?

One technique I use for a quick render is to create a luminous dome (polygons facing inwards) and a simple square for the ground. Niether of them need to be anything special, but so long as the dome is luminous and effects the radiosity/lighting and the ground doesn't it should work. I also recommend making both invisible to the camera and to have a point light to add a bit of definition. The trick is to balance the light from the dome and the point light.

...That works well and quickly in Lightwave anyway!

3 point lighting is a common setup for film and rendering which uses 3 lights: key, fill, and rim, positioned around the subject.

here's a pretty good link I found a while back which explains alot better

Looks very nice, but you could either try repositioning the object to get a better lighting effect or lighten the texture a bit.

3 Point lighting is old school. I'd give it a nice clay material and then setup an HDRI. The results will amaze you.
