Hi, there. Just a quick brief question regarding my system specs.
Are these okay for running FPS Creator X9?

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit
Genuine intel CPU T2080 @ 1.73GHz
1.9 GB ram
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series Graphics card.

Thanks, in advance!

Honestly, no.

You will be able to run the editor and games with that but it probably won't be enjoyable because You'll likely suffer from long build times and poor framerate (which contributes to collision problems). FPSC is also a bit hit and miss with ATI graphics as far as shader compatability goes. Also, don't expect to run fullscreen shaders with a lightweight mobile GPU. The CPU is also relatively slow which means scripts will bog it down pretty easily.

FPSC might appear a bit primitive at times but it's actually a bit of a resource hog. You can always download the free version and some of the BOTB games to give you a better feel of what to expect with that notebook.

Is there a bit of a work-around to this problem, Errant?
Also, how will it do on a Windows 7 XP or Vista?
Thanks in advance,

GamingGuy.

I have no problems with my computer. Here are my specs:

CPU - AMD Phenom X3 1.9GHz
RAM - 4GB DDR2
OS - Windows 7 64bit
GPU - HD Radeon 5770 1GB (ATI)

I get 60 framerate with most FPSC games, and the build times are pretty fast. But with your specs, you are likely to encounter a LOT of lag. I agree with Errant completely, it won't be enjoyable. There is not much of a work around for it as far as i know.. I recommend getting a new computer/upgrading that one. This is a laptop correct?

Hope this helps!

You will definitely have an issue with the ATI Radeon Xpress. I had one in one of my systems (a Dell laptop, same RAM as you) and it just could not produce a decent framerate. It will drive you nuts in the end. 5 fps at times is just no fun.

FPSC runs fine on XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Mind you, it depends on what you have on that system. I run v1.17 on my Acer laptop (4 GB RAM, Win7 64bit, dual core, AMD Radeon HD 6250) with high framerates and no issues. Our desktop is runs v1.17 (quad core with 2 GB RAM, Vista 32bit and an ATI Radeon HD 4650) and is smooth as well. I've tested v1.18 and it also had no issues.

However, designing a level(s) using segment rooms may not be an issue for you at first. Adding characters and such, or designing an outdoor level changes everything. Add the shaders and extra goodies and yes you will start to see a performance drop.

I have almost new desktop computer, with 3gb ram and AMD Athlon X2 245 dual core processor, but i think that ATI Radeon 3000 graphics card is the problem, because even COD4 does not run very good even on worst graphics settings. FPSC maps usually work well, but large maps and using new shader possabilities drops framerate to under 20. So am I correct when I blame that graphics card?

What about a PC with the following system specs?

MS Windows 7 Home premium 64 Bit SP 1
Celeron Dual-Core CPU T3000 @ 1.80GHz
4.0GB RAM
Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

P.S Thanks to everyone who has posted on this thread so far!

Better, but the CPU is not very good. Also the GPU will be pushed to it's limits with detailed games..

why always laptops???^^

if you want to do big things with your computer, buy a big machine.

i am in the marketing-business for 15 years now, but i only know a two-handfull of people who NEED a laptop for their doings/jobs (all salesforce), especially today where you got comfortable mobiles and pads.
most of the people think about style when buying their pcs, always a big mistake. if you want to work with it (like playing/developing games) and not only needed for presentations, it should be a working machine under the desk. a big, fat, ugly cube with big hardware in it.

just my 2 cents

I suppose you're right about getting a "Big Machine", Maho.
The only problem is that I had just got the laptop that I am currently using.

If you are going to buy a new PC, then buy a good one. Its really annoying to change PC every 1 or 2 years. buy once, and have fun with it for 5 or 6 years. I'm now stuck with my crappy laptop. Lets have a look at it.

CPU: singlecore 1.73 GHZ

RAM: 128 MB

On the eight of Febuary, I am going buy a new and very expensive Game Computer. Lets have a look at 2.

CPU: quadcore AMD Phenom2 X4 965 3.4 GHZ

RAM: 8 GB

Graphics card: ATI 6770 1GB

Now that is a big difference isn't it ?

So what I'm trying to say is: if you're gonna buy a new computer, then buy a good one.

Good luck.

Sorry for my english, i'm an alien
