Hi,mates.
I am learning blender now.
If I made a diffuse map and a bumpmap for a model, how can I set them to the model in blender.

My method is type "U" in edit mode, and unwap the model , so I get a uvlayout map. Then I "open inmage" in uv-edit field, choose the diffuse map. Set "matiarial" to "Face to texture". What should I do with the bumpmap next in order to show the bumpmap in render resault?

Thank you very much.

you need to load it as a second image in the material settings, then on the 'map to' settings for that image, remove it from the color channel and add it to the normal channel

Still not work, but thank you anyway. I should learn more.
My main problem is not knowing how to load an image in the materail settings.

attached image, it's kinda messy sorry. it's grabbed from 2.49 but 2.5 works the same way the buttons are just in a different place.. i think right hand side instead of along the bottom.

Finally I got this render map. I think I should draw my bumpmap again.

I found I could set both the "specular" option and "normal" option in the same bumpmap and I got a diffirent render resault. Is this method right? What the diffirence between the bumpmap and the real single specular map?

not much really, both are black and white images, the only difference is intention. spec controls how light shines on a material, and it'll look pretty similar to a bump higher parts get higher values... higher values in bump will also probably have higher values in spec, but not necessarily the same values.

fine detail bumps probably wont have want much contrast between highest and lowest values, while spec usually needs a bigger difference between them.

also, when using a spec map, drop the value to 0 on the material to let it equal the image values, else it'll come out alot brighter than intended
