Hey all,

I'm not entirely sure if this is against the AUP, and I did think out just making a plain request but I know that they are frowned up here. So I decided to make it a bit more interesting. This is for all the modellers and texturers here.

Basically, I need a scifi pistol (I know a few others do too) so I'm looking for something like this :



So, I'm hoping that a few people will try to model something like this, I'm looking for it to be above 1000 polys ~2000 maybe, with a 1024 x 1024 texture. I don't mind if more than one person works on one model (ie. one doing a model the other a texture).

I know what your thinking 'why would i do this for free, OMGZ FREAKIN' N00BZ!' hahaha. but I'm offering in return for a fully textured model a rig of your model to a EAI hand rig of your choice, if more than one person works on the model I'll do one for you both, as long as you both own the original EAI weapon and agree to not redistribute to anyone unless in a built game. Also, I may consider doing a rig to a stock animation set and release it to the community. These rigs will come with a sound set and fully operation gunspec settings (ironsights, recoil etc). If there is more than one model that I find of suitable quality I will create a rig for both creators. Although if there is not models that I find of suitable quality there will be no rigs for anyone I'm not really that hard to impress.

Model Download

I think we should form an assembly line. I built the model, now I pass it down to the next person, whoever volunteers, to uvmap it. They'll then pass it to someone to texture, then from there to someone to rig, etc, etc.

Model is in 3 separate files, for each 3 sections of the gun.

...hmm, might make another one tonight just for shiz and giggles...

@Bootlicker I texture segments but could have a try at texturing a gun so maybe if someone UV Maps it or whatever I can try to make a decent gun texture

@Josh if you want to make more Sci-Fi pistol stuff for shiz and giggles could you perhaps make a model of the ray gun from Nazi Zombies? I'm sure people want it too :3

I've assembled the weapon using the three files Josh supplied. Here is an OBJ of it. Both BlueFox and I were going to UV Map and texture it, but we have another priority that needs our attention. If Anayar wants to UVMap, then the least I can do is supply him the assembled model.

(Josh, hope you do not mind me helping out this way.)

Aah, finally! Got it mapped... Be aware that it is by no means my best map and so if anyone wants to do a better one feel free.

DL includes Milkshape file with groups, OBJ File, and 2048x1024 UV map



I might give this one a shot myself just to see what i can do...

Josh, I tried looking everywhere, on my portable hard drive, all 8 something of my USBs, on the desktop I rarely use, and all over this harddrive.
I can't find the concepts for the life of me.
If I'm lucky, and I'm sure that I will be this time, either Bootlicker or AbdulAhad may have the file that I possibly sent them via MSN or Skype. I'm going to continue tracking it down.

EDIT:
I found one on my website, but it was not the guns you were looking for /waves hand.

It is only a side view of the weapon, as thats all I did.

Whilst digging through my site, I found a half modeled version of that gun. I'll post it here to give you some idea. The reason I can't find any of the others or continue this myself, is that my laptop that I used to use finally died, which I saw coming, and I am still awaiting a replacement.

@Wolf, could I possibly get my hands on that?

why does the texture appear so blury! i edited the UV map, increased the texture size to a whopping 4096x2048 and i retextured twice! still with no luck. maybe its just fpsc. but then again, im definitely not a texture artist or modeller.

you probably either have reduce textures set to 1 or 2, or it could be your video card is not able to handle anisotropic filtering at a high level

wow! those models look great guys!

As you can see there is no texture reducing, despite the crappy quality of the screenshots all the textures and stuff appear properly just not on the gun. :S its weird. maybe im just going crazy but it appears much clearer when reloading too. wtf.
