I think I'm going to bite the bullet on this one and stop trying to use my 3D model format and use a .X format for my game.

However before I do, I have a few questions:

1.) What are the license restrictions/can I use them in my commercial game?

2.) I know that I can natively make them in Anim8or, but is animation data exported as well?

3.) If not Anim8or, is there a Blender plugin I can use to export DirectX models with animation data included?

Thanks...

1.) None/yes.

Remember when I said that you can't copyright a file format, but can copyright the file content/data?

Anim8or is best for rendering, or static 3D models which you swap to get animation. Your isometric games is really a 2D game anyway, so Anim8or could be used to render out the animations which you then put on plains. My Anim8or exports 3DS anyway, not X. There might be a plugin, I don't know. If you want to make the game 3D model animations Anim8or isn't a good idea. Fragmotion seems to be a popular choice.

Thank you all for the help!

@Pincho - I'm actually making my new game 3D. The 2D Map editor I'm saving for something else.
