Does anyone know why I can't exclude the limbs of instanced objects? The help files don't mention the limitation, a hiding the limbs works so I am not sure if it is intentional that exclusion doesn't work.

There's nothing that would be different between excluding a limb and hiding a limb on an instanced object, so it's simply not supported.

Ok, thanks Ian. Can anybody suggest a method of LOD which actually speeds up rendering? It seems that having a bunch of extra objects decreases performance more than just rendering all high-detail objects in the first place, and using a limb-based method is even worse...
