The Latest: I made THIS using the overlay maker.
About
Project Dust is a software app for your PC that allows you to easily manage all aspects of your FPSC. It includes many features designed to make the game-making proccess easier by putting all of the basics in one place. The project is still at it's roots but we already have an exciting list of features in-store:
- Launch FPSC from the app.
- Launch your modeling program from the app.
- Intergrated Story-Line designer.
- Intergrated FPI script editor
- Intergrated Overlay Maker!
- TGC Web Browser for faster browsing of the Forums.
- A tutorial finder with links to the best tutorial for that subject. (Will hopefully save many of those "How do I??" posts on the forums)

This sounds amazing! It seems like there's been an influx of awesome third party apps that make FPSC way easier to use. I can't wait for this one. Make it happen, Wheatleyy!

Thanks guys, im also gonna create an instant link to the "Files" folder so its easier to add entities. Also, could you guys comment with your fpsc directories
eg: C:/Program Files (x86)/Thegamecreators/fpscreator

Is it jusrt me who has the (x86) program files folders, or are there others too? If so what is yours? I am asking because i need this for the launching of fps creator

That's where my FPSC folder is at, as well. Anyone running a 64-bit OS has the (x86) directory, I believe.

THIS IS A SIGNATURE. I swear.

And the rest is just standard program files?
Also, I need to know what modeling programs you guys use so I can add them to the app?

Another suggestion. Not all of us use c:, let alone the Program Files directory. You could code your applet to allow users to specify their folder. For example, they click on settings, select the folder where FPS Creator is installed, and voila. This way everyone can use it, regardless of where they have it installed.

What are you coding this in? For example, if you are using VB 2008, you can having a settings form where the user will browse and select their folder for FPS Creator. That selection can be written to an ini or txt file. This can be used for your other "applets" to know where the path is. When using your script editor or overlay maker applet, they can "read" the necessary location from that ini or txt file. I used this approach when I wrote the Mod-IT applet a while back (allows users to swap mods). By having a settings form, the users would specify their FPS Creator location and that was written to an ini file, which the main applet read and knew where to swap mods.

It can be a pain, but you are better off allowing your users to specify the location. Otherwise, you could lose potential users if you are limiting the usage to only c:\Program Files, etc. Follow? Another tip (if you are using VB to code this). Make sure you code the "working directory" if users are able to launch FPS Creator from your application. Some systems will not launch it properly, others may launch but have a "genre unknown" issue when testing. Using Mod-IT as my example, I did the same thing- allow the user to launch FPSC from my application. There were a couple of minor issues involving the Preference screen for x9/x10. Once I specified the "working directory" in my code, it worked perfect. The key is to use the selected "working directory", store it, and then pass it in a variable.

This sounds extremely useful! I would love to use this. Oh, and due to me hating to clutter my boot drive, my installation of fpsc is in g:/fps creator. An option to choose your fpsc install directory would be useful. Modeling software I use is Fragmotion and 3D studio max.

I have collected many useful tools for FPSC, but they are still somewhat scattered about on my pc. This sounds really great, I look forward to it's release. What about Alfresco, Firma, and Entity Workshop, though you should get permission to use them in such a way? Good luck and a thousand thanks!!! Oh, my install is C:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\FPS Creator, the typical 64-bit installation directory.
