As a new user, I'm probably asking this too soon, but can you use fps creator to make cutscenes? I know you could probably use fraps or another free video capture program to record yourself in the game and use that, but it doesn't look like a cutscene you'd get from a proper game. I was wondering if it was possible to create more realistic cutscenes with fps creator, or if you had to do it some other way.

No, not exactly. What i do to make cutscenes is:
1. Do some video capture of a "background plate" without your characters in.
2. Animate the characters
3. Put the back plate behind the characters
4. Add voices/ sound etc...

And voila! Give it a try! I use A program called cinema 4d, but you can achieve the same effect in 3DS max

and to answer rexzooly, yes, just put a video/ story zone just before your win zone.

Hey Wheatley,

What exactly do you mean by a "background plate"?
I don't fully understand, im also wondering how you can make cutscenes for my game.

Thanks!

Oh and off topic a bit, does anyone know how i can get an animated menu? I looked in the forums and didn't find much (im blind when it comes to searching). Like just a looping video or something? I know Lewis uses this in Alpha Project, do i need PB?

Thank you. I'll take a look. You make it sound easy though, however, I may find it no so easy if I choose to purchase cinema 4d, if I can find pricing on the site.

background plate means, as written, frapping a scene without the npc-parts. he will add the detailed animated characters out of a 3d-prog and cut it together in a video-cut-prog like cinema, adobe premiere or after effects, final-cut, avid, magix a.s.o.
