I was just thinking about making a .bsp map using valve hammer, but I was wondering wether I can use the supplied .wad textures (that come with half-life) for the alienware competition, would it be classed as a copyright infringment?

Absolutely 100% copyright infringement I'm afraid.

only if you get the author/makers written permission otherwise you have to make your own, right?

They're copyritten to Half-Life game use only...
if you make a level for Half-Life or any other valve game they're useable because your using them within the game your legally allowed to create them for.

As soon as its for personal use, thats when it becomes illegal.
Check online for textures, you should be able to find something useful for free.

I deleted that pointless argument about a word, when it was very clear what was meant.

Please stop picking nits - I repeat, if you want to argue or name-call, do it by email or on someone elses forums - we don't want ot hear it any more.

I officially point out, for the record, who started with the name calling. I merely defended myself.

Thank you and I apologize to you and the entire db community.

and Raven is very happy the other stuff was deleted because he was proven WRONG and won't admit it - as usual. But now no one can see. It's ok though, because I know what happened and so does he.
