I need a mod that will allow me to use scripts to start an external program. I have DarkBASIC Professional, but the source will not compile, and I have no idea where to begin. Thanks all.

Do you want a command for scripting purposes that allows you to start an external exe file. Or do you want a mod that starts an EXE file after starting itself up?

Hi,

If you're prepared to pay, I'd be prepared to discuss this with you if you want to email me to discuss it. I'm afraid I don't have time to do any coding for free and it would depend on what your full requirements were and what you expected to achieve by calling external code.

Added simple command "execute=x" X is the file name (the path will begin in the files folder just like loadhudimage=x,loadsound=x, etc)

File is attached, example script below:

Allowing an open exe call to a game sounds a little dangerous. If the game files are not protected, anyone could go in and swap the exe as long as they gave it the same name. Even if it is protected, you are at the mercy of the game creator when it comes to what executable he may put in there. I'm not saying that anyone is going to be purposefully malicious, but you are opening the door for that. Even the best intentions can cause havoc on a system if it's not done correctly. We're not dealing with a big name game studio with massive knowledge and testing here. Beware the executable!

Brian.
