set fog distance 1000
set fog color rgb(255,255,255)

Or something like that, anyway this probably isn't what u want coz its way to simple

Fog does exactly what it says on the tin. You might also want to try putting a semi-transparent plain in front of the camera for a different effect. You can create "patchy" mist this way.
