For some strange reason, my programs give me the error message "EROOR: Invalid Bit Depth Specified" all of a sudden: I haven't changed anything in my environment, and I've reinstalled VC++ 2008 an DGDK twice over now, and the issue won't go away! What happened?!?

When you have the command "dbSetDisplayMode( Width, Height, Depth);" if the "Depth" part is anything other than 16 or 32 it will throw that error.

I WISH that was the problem... Actually, the program gives me that error when starting up... My program never uses dbSetDisplayMode(W,D,H);. I use 16 bit by default, but it recently began giving me that error for no apparent reason... Maybe a DX problem??? I'll reinstall it to be sure...

Then try using dbSetDisplayMode and set the depth to 16, if that doesn't work try 32. I think I have had this problem before, I will look through my old projects and see if I can find out what is causing it.

AAAAHahahaha! Gotcha! The source for the DXSDK was trying to set the bit depth to 33. How did this happen? Perhaps improper shutdown corrupted the file, and Windows fixed it wrong? Oh well. I don't care how it's fixed, as long as it works. Thanks anyhoo, Bigglesworth!

I wish I figured that out when I had the problem
