Forgive me as this is a Gimp/Paint.net question but I am asking it to create a custom damage hud for a FPSC game I am working on. I would like to create a cracked glass like effect everytime the player received damage. My question is I have the cracked glass graphic how do I make the layer trnsparent so the player can still see who is shooting at him?

are the glass-layers transparent? then simply use png-format, it saves the transparency so u can simply use it in fpsc in exchange for the original dmg-hud. fpsc does the transformation into dds-format on its own.
