is it possable for me to add a photo to a dark basic matrix to make a 3d world that the charicters can walk on or will it create errors in the game. such errors like when the the charicter turns around the world beconmes invisable or unrealistic

What do you mean? You can texture a matrix with a photo.

I think our friend asks about building up a terrain(matrix) wiht an image ,like a gray scale heightmap.
