What's a common display mode that I can set my map editor to?

(800x600) the most BASIC size
(1024x768) majority run this
(1280x1024) people with high-end video cards run this

best idea (800x600) by default, but have it so they can switch to (1024x768) or (1280x1024) depending on there choice

800x600 the standard? i havent seen a screen like that in a long time... if that is the new standard... i guess im breaking the rules with my 1280x1024 (native) monitor and graphics card...

ive worked on computers for many years... and yes many people still run at 800x600... but if they play games, use image editing software, 3D modelling, or even surf the internet... they have at least 1024x768

I guess what they mean by standard is the minmun for users across the board. Not everyone has a Radeon 9800 or even a 9000. Games come "standard" with a resolution of 800x600 or evern still the old 640x480. Then the user can change this to their perfered resolution. You won't see a game in "standard" resolution at anything above 800x600.

yes almost all games run at 800x600... so it is compatible with more systems... but my other computer is running a $30 video card from walmart and a 15" monitor from gateway and that is set at 1024x768...

but i dont know of many people that still run at 800x600, other than my parents... but my mom has a hard time turning the darn thing on... so i dont count her

thats why i said 'default' of 800x600 and a choice for 1024x768 or higher... in case the user is using a higher resolution... dont mean to sound like im arguing its just i have a hard time typing what is on my mind... without sounding arrogant

only game i can think of is mabee Half-Life 2 or Doom 3...
