Does DBPro have any way of setting the directory in which all temp files go? They really start to litter my temp folder, and thats really hard to get to, is there any way I can make a folder and set that as the directory for easier clean up?

temp files are deleted automatically.

DBpro temp directory is at:
Quote: "C:\Users\computer_name$\AppData\Local\Temp\dbpdata"

temp file is usually hidden. so you should do the following:

1- C:\Users\computer_name$
2- right click the mouse button.
3- click on properties.
4- at the bottom of properties window choose the option "hidden"
5- click on apply.
6- at the options window choose apply on folders and sub folders.
7- the Appdata folder will appear then carry on: AppData\Local\Temp\dbpdata.

I know where it is, the temp files arent deleted, I don't know why, but I see a whole bunch of untitled.dba's when I go in my temp, I just wanted to know if their was an easier way to clean it out and stuff.

You could make a little program that runs through the Temp folder and deletes them.

You and Kevin are talking about two different things.

1. The 'execution' directory when you run a DBPro program - this directory is automatically deleted after your program exits, unless it exits abnormally. Otherwise, the directory will be deleted when you run another DBPro program if the directory is old enough (I can't remember what 'old enough' is right now though).

2. The source files the editor places in the temporary directory. These will stay in place until they are deleted, so Kevin's advice applies.

There seems to be a third possibility. After some searching on my laptop I found a "Temp" folder with the following files:

What are these files, and why does the folder contain only recent files?

The dbpdata* directories are (1), and the dbp*.tmp files are (2).

You must have some sort of regular clean-up going on there, either automatically using some utility you've installed, or as a part of running the space-recovery wizard.

So why doesn't this happen:

Quote: "The 'execution' directory when you run a DBPro program - this directory is automatically deleted after your program exits"

?

Perhaps this:

Quote: "unless it exits abnormally."

?

Quote: "You must have some sort of regular clean-up going on there, either automatically using some utility you've installed"

I have - TuneUp Utilities.

I wonder how it detects which files to delete? The "tmp" extension perhaps - or the mere fact it's in that directory?

Just the fact that they're in that directory.
