Just completed Max Payne 2 - probably the quickest game I completed (just over 24 hours). Good game, although its rather short. Old Max certainly has problems though...

No spoilers please

I only got it yesterday, and I've only played it for a few hours - I keep stopping to look at things and thinking 'now how can I do that effect' - It kinda slows me down a bit

too me 7hrs in all, not the quickest but compared to one which i also felt was a tad short .. it did seem lacking.
but the new systems for everything were nicely improved i was impressed. The story is just as base but its more involving now.

just have to wait for the mods
but if you play the game through there are a tonne of secrets and alot of old max mod developers and such are featured as tags on walls or directions to secret weapons and such

Shame - I was just going to talk more about old Maxy...

It would make a very good film though - seems the first one never got made into one.

it is a film already. Just shrink most of the action, and edit it a bit and you'd have a finished product.

I played through it last weekend, actually took just one day. But I didn't really wish it to be any longer. I got bored of the action, I wish there would be more anims and moves for the poor guy. I mean, most of the time when you are not bullettiming it looks pretty stupid, not kool at all. But the storyline was great, and the sound fx / voice acting / music is still the best I've heard so far. It's just stunningly good.

Yes, more moves would have been better - being able to jump off walls and fight upside down would be useful too... How you can get bored with the action is beyond me though...

Anyone else think that Destination Unknown:Return To Sender is a take-off of Twin Peaks only more geared towards Max Payne's situation ?

I can think of several games that'd make better movies than Max Payne 1/2-- among them Thief 1/2 and Halo. Yes, MP has a much stronger film feel to it, but I can't see the melodramatic slush of dialogue it loves surviving in the box office (I hate it anyways ).

A very nice %it, indeed.

MP2... nice lil 13 hour romp for me... wish it were longer though.

Oh and was it just me or did Max's face look like somthing that went through serious trauma, then years of sadness, then ageing????

Nick there's gonna be a movie, using the original Max Payne actor... there were hints to it in clues throughout the second game aparently (i totally missed them lol).
But the Remedy Site had something about it, before they get into Max Payne3

And you might not like the Noir style films Mouse, but i bet a good few of the older guys miss them. I know its something that I miss, its that who cheesey Melodramatics that make them so cool
Should watch some of those old black&white detective movies, alot of fun ... i know they're not suppose to funny but they are at time s its the humour in Max that makes it so much better than an ordinary Noir story.

I mean you take the game 'Noir' for example, now that was a very damn good point'n'click game the cinematics and dramatics make it a compelling mobster story set in 1950s France. But Max isn't there to be all serious about itself, its all the little offshot comments Max makes
You could almost see it being something leslie nielson doing

Yes, Halo would also make a pretty good film, but then so would Wolfenstein - dont see it happening though unfortunately. Actually on Bungie's site they state that they actively prevent films being made.

Hopefully it wont take as long to do MP3 as it did with MP2.

Its what makes the game - its the same in Matrix Reloaded.

Do you mean the guy from max payne 1? Unless you knew, that guy was just one of the production team... they just edited the photos to make him look better and so on. I even have an old article where they interviewed the guys before mp1 was released... and they show a neat "before/after" pics there.

Like I said before, it is already a movie. no need to make one. Although movies could use a lot kooler camera views...I kinda hoped that would have used much more of those in mp2. (but instead, they used less)

I assumed that they'll be using the chap who voices Max Payne - Haven't heard anything back from the creators of Max Payne regarding a film - nothing on IMDB either...

Not exactly - its a movie-like computer game.

The guy they used for Max Payne's face was a pretty famous drama actor here, some of you may know of him from 'Polteghist the Legacy' TV Show.

There is a hollywood film in the works from what is being thrown around, there is another game currently being made into a film too but I can't remember.
Not that i care... AVP is comming out in 5months and i can't wait

Max payne 1 or 2? Voice or the images? They're all different.

I've seen poltergeist: the legacy and yes, one guy in it looks a bit similar to max payne...not Too much though. And I'm not so sure if it's "him", though. Seen him in other stuff too.

That is him, and the voices were different in each country ... the US one was his voice however all of the rest don't, because the regionalised the game.
But thats what you get from a Norway company, they always think too much about making sure everything is good for everyone.
