I am trying to get the lights to work on the map and they don't seem to react properly. I have DarkLIGHTS but I can't get that to work either. So I am asking for someone to help me figure this out. Thanks

What program did you use to build up this level? I have been trying to add some lights on Darklights and I think you will have to apply correctly textures to all limbs(walls). It is not necesary you to make every wall as a limb, you could join all meshes for x axis and the same for z axis, and last use a texture the floor and ceiling.

I have arranged your map for you ...now it can receive lights correctly. Download attached.

Cheers.

How did you arrange the map? I used 3DWS to create it. Should I have built a lightmap in there and then carried that file over? Overtly, I have DarkLIGHTS but i can't get it to work. It keeps crashing when I try to build the file. Haven't gotten help on that one yet. Thanks for your help so far

I load your level into 3DMax and gave texture to all limbs and export again. Try to load again the converted map.x that is attached in the example above.

what if I wanted to make the map virtually dark except for a light that the player is carrying? That's where my real problem is at. I can't get the map to light up properly with the light of the player.

Perhaps you need a shader. Evolved has a good flashlight shader that you can use in your maps.Take a look here to the flashlight shader.

I do have DarkSHADER.... maybe I can get that to work. Are you familiar with it at all?

Not really, but you can take a look in the learning to write shaders thread.

thanks for your help. What really bites is that before my computer crashed I had it already figured out. But I lost that code and don't remember how I did it. I'll keep at it. Thanks again. Here's a flock of penguins for your troubles
