although possible in DBP, its better to "part it out".
tinker with your game in DBPro and get it working pier to pier first.
Don't go all out with all features, just the basics of moving around and so forth and overall level design.
When that far, send me an email and i'll help write a server for you. You will still need to come up with the server, or rent one for $100 per month to run custom sofware..... Sure, you can do it on your own PC with your own ISP, but you can't use that PC while others are using your game. Or, you can do it all with DBpro, but then you cant port it to a dedicated server ... These things are tricky, the first few times, so i can save you some work there. The server app does not require any media at all, it only maintains user lists and location data. This gets relayed to all users and your DBPro app can handle that part without issue.
But, for the money, the best approach is to do it all in DBpro until ready or nearing ready for publishing and then convert your code for use with a server. maybe do that when you have 15-20 players in your game world at all times (even the slow periods).
