A look at some of the stuff I am working on for a new upcoming pack.

Entity parts are built into segments for single click placement.

Please excuse the quality of video, I am using a laptop with integrated graphics card and video capture kills the framerate.

Needs some tweaking, particularly with timing of events, but a test example of characters on dynamic surface being thrown by blast force

The Fox's like this. Video was just fine and demonstrated this in perfect form. You have shown some great things that take developments to another level.

Great job.

No we are still working on that game. It is coming along slowly- it has a lot of detail going into each level. She still has not forgotten the generous gift you sent her with the desert and you are still one the top of the list to receive it when completed.

And to answer the other part of your question, yes she does have a personal interest in the Egyptian stuff. As soon as you plan to release, we hopefully will purchase it. Mind you Christmas is just around the corner, so we may have to hold until the New Year, depending on the budget. But it is marked down to watch and buy for sure.

Mrs Fox, err, Cathy says that is fine. She would be more than happy to help out in any way. You can email either one of us to help when you need us at any time. We will clear our schedule when required.

Thanks Errant, actually purchased your RPG for the vid but found it looking so good it would have detracted from what I was trying to show
I went with the stock bazooka so folks could easily relate to it being FPSC. I will say though it looks real good using the RPG and blowing things up like this.

Awesomeness! Destruction has always been a hobby of mine.
I wait to see how you affect objects around the blast, as in the vehicle in the video. Very cool. Will characters go flying off in ragdoll fashion?

That really does look amazing rolfy! A couple of questions if you don't mind answering?

1/. Can the terrain be shot anywhere, like the middle of a building? Or is it only set areas?

2/. Do ANY objects react like the car did or only specific objects that come in the pack?

Something else to put on my Christmas list. Excellent!

Quote: "Will characters go flying off in ragdoll fashion?"

One of those things I still have to look at, I have just started this stuff and there is still a lot of heavy testing to be done, but as with all things FPSC I reckon its entirely possible. The only real problem I can see straight off will be character collision with the dynamic entity's but I have a very simple idea to make even that work, will get back to you on this.

Quote: "Can the terrain be shot anywhere, like the middle of a building? Or is it only set areas?"

Since all physics are simulated and keyframed in Max, only the parts that are animated will explode, however I have tested this with all kind of triggers, including limb detection, and it all works. I intend to create partly destructible and fully destructible buildings which will use many trigger areas to activate the areas which are hit.
There are many uses for this, from random destruction to specific areas explosions, for example you could use a model of dynamite,c4,crate or whatever to snipe or use a trigger to blow the whole place up at once.
As for road areas it would simply be a case of placing a lot of exploding sections, I intend to create a few different animations with differing scales of damage for variety.

Quote: "Do ANY objects react like the car did or only specific objects that come in the pack?"

The car in the video was animated specifically for this, its another thing I will be looking at is testing the reaction of objects using physics in FPSC itself, it may be a simple case of scripting a force direction when explosion is triggered, or even making objects a character with an initial animation to throw it into the air and letting ragdoll take over at frame end, depends on the complexity of the object.

There are a LOT of things to look into and if this stuff takes off I may do a lot more of it and see exactly what can be done.

Wow, very innovative and original for FPSC. This will surely sell well in the community, I can't see why it wouldn't! I'm really excited to see how this comes along, can't wait to get my paws on it

Just a question of clarification: Can all of these be set to activate simply by means of a trigger zone, so without having to shoot anything? Would be neat for story events or adding dangerous elements to a scene in a war game.

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Thanks for good feedback.
Simple script action, activateifused=, means you can trigger from whatever you wish. Use timers anything you like really.

Not really decided yet...will keep you posted.
I wanted to see if folks were interested in this, if all goes well it may be that different themes, war, sci fi, medieval etc will mean different themed packs.

Your design to use limb detection is what really makes the possibilities limitless. With all physics being precalculated you could potentially create an entirely destructible environment with no fps hit.

To make this really impressive, any chance of seeing a domino effect? I want to see an entire road go up with cars flying everywhere. *evil grin*

Great stuff.

Watch the characters closely
And yes those characters can move around freely on top of that dynamic entity, a little trick I came up with

Needs some tweaking, particularly with timing of events, but a test example of characters on dynamic surface being thrown by blast force

I am loving this, one question, could the player shoot say a building and drop debris on an enemy, and kill the enemy, I see the blast force is working. will it kill?

A simple enough script condition would do this, activateifused = in the blasted entity probably coupled with entitywithinzone= in the zone script (if your character is free roaming).
A lot of this is up to you guy's and what you want to dream up

For the stuff you are seeing I am using simple hitboxes which activate everything, these are set to explode themselves so have a blast radius which will take out any characters within range, so for this there is no need to trigger character behaviour.

As said above I am using a laptop with integrated graphics and only 1Gb of ram, the fps is very good considering the amount thats going on in there and it all runs smoothly without video capture going on.
I will have someone with a decent system capture it for me from now on, at this stage its all testing and good enough to show examples.

Most impressive Rolfy. What can't you do in FPSC? I like how you are going about this and trying the destructive enviroments.
I bet the guy making the BFBC2 remake will see this and soil his pants. Haha, but I only joke.

Quote: "If you're desperate for someone to test it for you, I'm sure I could help you out there."

And if its not but you and 1 other tester, a little variation wouldn't hurt. I don't have to test all of it. I'm mainly wanting
to see the wall destruction in more action.

I own Fraps and I can video capture with virtually no lag. If you want someone to, I can get cleaner video capture for you.
Just a suggestion but don't feel like you have to, you know? Would be nice, but its up to you.
