I agree, but my point is still valid, because there are people that could believe that pizza is a vegetable.

A is for Apps. X is for XBox 360, we've all heard of them. W is for Wi-Fi. Dunno about Z.

We should actually make a new kids alphabet. (A new five a day too-Playstation, Internet, TV, Veggie Pizza and Can of Coke)

I've been saying pizza is a vegetable all my life!!! It makes perfect sense that it's a vegetable!

Quote: "After watching Jamie Oliver's American Road Trip and seeing that American kids didn't even know what an apple looked like, I tend to disagree with you. It may very well be that pizzas are now taught to be a vegetable at school."

If there truly are people stupid enough to not know what an apple looks like, then said idiot won't know that pizza is now a vegetable in the first place.

It's called tv, news, schools, knowing people, having friends,Every one knows what a apple is and to say other is a stupid comment.

MOST ALL AMERICANS EAT HEALTHY FOODS MORE THEN JUNK FOOD. Every single school in the usa are forced to have apples in the food programe, ever single child on the food program knows what apples are.

It makes me laugh real hard on how other people in other country's that know nothing about the usa belive a reality food show host about something so stupid.

Congress made pizza a vegitable so our children can have pizza in there lunches,There are people here trying there best to ban stuff like pizza for no real reason.

There are alot of people doing there best to regulate every little thing we do,making ecusess that most all americans are fat. this is not true,Itsd a lie.

most all americans are skinny, healthy, run every day and work out. they take the very few who have eating problems then they say this is the whole usa,and its a lie.

I KNOW,I LIVE HERE,I have been to almost every single state in the usa,Most all people here eat no diffrent then most any one else.Yes, we all go out to eat here and there,But we are not pigs.

But you can keep beliving a tv show host that knows knothing about the matter all you want.

I think the obesity rates make a pretty good case against unhealthy food such as pizza.

To say our goverment does not know tomatos are not a friut is also stupid,we all know it's a stupid friut, we all are very smart about the whole a tamato is a friut, But, we have to fight back some how and this is how they did it. If you ask me, THE WAY THEY DID IT WAS VERY SMART,THEY GOT THE WHOLE WORLDS ATTENTION ON THE MATTER.

I haven't bought into any lies, it's common knowledge that a large percentage of Americans are overweight, there are plenty of sources on this if you care to search. Perhaps you live in an area where they are unusually fit and healthy.

Sorry, not a big fan of conspiracy theories.

Quote: "Some people are fat... so it should be banned for everyone ...?"

Some people use hard drugs irresponsibly, so they should be banned for everyone? Besides we're just talking about school dinners, not totally banning pizza outright. I don't know about the US but in the UK there's a rising obesity problem with youths, and the government are trying to get schools to give more healthy meals in an attempt to tackle it. I'd imagine it's the same story in the US.

As someone going through the UK school system as we speak, definately yes, it's a massive (har har) problem. But the kids who are obese don't eat the dinners, that's the thing. They go out at lunch and buy ten tons of sweeties and lollies.

This is a conspiracy theory... I find the obesity rates extremely believable. Have you ever been on an airplane? Used public transport? Besides, insurance companies love this kind of data, and pay good money to actuaries to find it. Maybe there's an error as high as 5-10%, but even that's pushing it.

Although I understand why you might be suspicious of chopstick makers. If the government could regulate how we ate, fork manufactures would be out of business!

Did you know apples sit in a warehouse for up to a year before being distributed?

http://www.dole.com/Packaging%20and%20Transportation/tabid/734/Default.aspx

American's are unhealthy because of corporate greed pushing policies like making what they like to call "pizza" into a vegetable so that they can continue to poison kids in schools.

Danial, you are being very narrow minded.

Food is just food, yes. But for some children a school lunch is the only decent meal they get in a day. So make it a decent lunch. I just read that menu of yours and I have to say I dont think it looks healthy at all

Let's put it this way:

Practically every unhealthy food is a poison.

Take skittles for example, red food coloring (E128 Carmine) is made from crushed red concheal beetles (no lie) think of what that can do to some people.

Or as another example, take the ingredients of pizza eminent posted, all those additives that are there for no reason, can be really dangerous, compared to homemade pizza.

Burgers, if the meat is not properly prepared, can spread E.coli, don't know if you heard, but about 10 years ago a boy died from food poisoning from eating a burger while on holiday.

If you saw how most chicken farmers treat their chickens, you may never buy any other eggs, than free range eggs. Battery Hens, the quickest and cheapest way of making eggs, is when thousands of chickens are cramped into dark tunnels, and forced to make eggs, they become violent and the conditions are unclean. Free range is the opposite.

If you saw how food is actually packaged and prepared in factories, you may not want to eat meat ever again.
I'm not trying to gross you out, but it's the ugly truth.

I can understand why you'd be sceptical of your government statistics, but of course you claim it's a lie, but you've not exactly got anything to back it up yourself. To me, being lobbied to declare Pizza a vegetable would suggest that if they were going to lie about statistics they'd do it in favour of the food companies lobbying them.

UK statistics also suggest that obesity is high and it's also considered and issue over here, however, it doesn't always seem that way with the people you know and meet or take notice of. So rather than worry about sticking up for the US on this matter, you're not the only ones.

However,

Quote: "You belive everything you read unless its from a real person who has no reason to lie, Like me,I have not gained one thing here in this conversation,Im 100 percent biased to the whole situation but I still tell the truth."

I can believe you or...

BAHAHAHAAHAAA! Definitely not. I'm siding with the foreign heathens on this one. sorry."

Believe a different American who is a real person with no reason to lie.

[edit]

TECHNICALLY everything is a poison, but its effects depend entirely on how much is ingested, they can use chlorine to clean our water but it was also used as a poisonous gas to kill people in the first world war. Water itself is a poison and the phrase 'water-poisoning' actually exists, but obviously without it we wouldn't be able to live. Even with technicalities aside there are a lot of poisons we do put in our body.

Of course, it can be what makes our unhealthy food unhealthier - doesn't mean you'll die from eating a pizza, but it certainly isn't healthy for your body. Hence why the idea of declaring a vegetable, something that tends to be a LOT healthier, is irresponsible.

This thread started as a good laugh at general stupidity. Now for some reason Daniel, you took sole offence to this and to be perfectly honest, I've been laughing at all your posts. Stop and re-read your posts, they neither make sense and generally sound like a cop-out by blaming the government for everything. Obesity is propagated by bad food, laziness and lack of common sense. It's mostly if not wholly the responsibility of the person to keep in shape, you can't blame the government if you eat 20 glazed cakes a day and wonder why your fat. Every child or parent knows pizza inst good for you so it's still the responsibility of the child and parents.

Also, SCREW OFF WITH THE CAPPS, its childish and immature.

Edit;

Your 'healthy meal' plan there is more like a how to guide for strokes.

Hey, I *love* pizza. Ask my family.

That said, what was in that photo was most definitely not pizza.

I gave you a link about the apples from the Dole website. I can't find specific numbers off hand, but I would guess that Dole is one of the, if not the leading distributor of Apples to every state in the union. I'm not saying Dole is evil though. I'm just saying that the things American's eat are not what a normal person would consider healthy, and it's largely because of human over-population, as well as changing appetite.

http://www.mckinseyquarterly.com/Retail_Consumer_Goods/Sectors_Regions/Satisfying_Americas_changing_appetite_194

Stuff like that is terrifying to me.

We as a society must change the way we *buy* food. I'm talking about we gotta stop buying little boxes of food. Things like cereal should *not* be in boxes. They should be in ginormous 2 ton crates that you drop through a spout into a reusable container. If we sold the majority of our food by the pound and in bulk, it would go a *long* way towards reducing the cost of our food (meaning everyone can afford healthy foods), and making it obvious to people that 1 dollar microwavable dinners are extremely expensive.

Consider home-made Spaghetti might cost about 50 cents a plate with how we buy food now. Consider now that you bought all the ingredients in bulk in reusable containers. You could possibly drop that price significantly. Disposable dinners would become obnoxiously expensive in comparison.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to go to the store and buy yourself a couple days worth of food for a dollar or two? Would be a heck of a lot better on our college students than buying ramen.

This is a well-known tactic as is known as "Sample Bias". You don't need to go to far extremes to perform your bias, for example...

If you want to perform a poll that says Violent Games are ok, put the poll details in a Gaming magazine rather than "Good Parenting"

If you want a restaurant to look bad, have an open survey where you don't follow up on the non-respondents (people tend to fill in forms when they have a complaint to make)

If you want a clinical trial to succeed, discount the drop-outs (that is the ones that gave up due to bad side effects).

Sample bias is the easiest thing in the world to achieve. Try asking school children if they would rather remove Pizza from a menu, or call it a vegetable, I'm sure you can predict the results!

Wow, that's just gross. No wonder I got sick the day after I ate a pizza in a weird restaurant (My first time)

I don't see anything wrong with what's in there Chemicals aren't bad just because they're chemicals. For some reason people balk at complicated words, and phrases like 'modified' or 'substitute'. Why? Do you honestly think no one has thought this through?

I'll just say this quickly and to the point. 1/3 of your working population is obese, not fat, obese. You can say whatever you want but that's the literal fact of the matter. Then people wonder why there fat when there government is claiming pizza is one of your 5 a day.

Now learn to spell check, learn some grammar and actually make valid backed up points, instead of your self-opinionated rubbish.

Edit seems a little to harsh but i refreshed my previous version

And you need to stop harrasing others on there comments, making snaping and hatefull and insulting remarks as if people who have dyslexia can not have any real opinion.

Just becouse No one not living in the usa Agrees with me does not give you the right to talk to me in such a rude and hatfull manner.

What made you dissrepect me so? My opinions? Why so rude to me? becouse you think all of the usa is obese?

You have not proven anything your self but you come here to insult me for no real reason.

Get a life.

You literally went from 1-60 on the defensive and accused without proof or fore-thought to your arguments. You based everything on what you know and think. Ever thought that alot of the obese people won't be running or be down at the gym where you seem to be?

An I didn't mean to come off aggressive, I'm actually enjoying discussion of sorts where you believe everything you say or have been told is true. Sure everyone can have opinions, even baseless opinions, it's harmless but you started freaking out the second someone proved you wrong. Since 25 years of data collection is a null point to you.

But I'll move back to the thing that really gets me. There's a real reason people are trying to ban 'pizza (like)' products being fed to children. It's not healthy. Now slapping a vegetable tag to it brings all the connotations that pizza is suddenly healthy and one of your five a day. An you actually defended that decision?

That's my real crutch with your view at the moment.

What is going on here? I haven't once seen this thread move from the very top spot today, while the rest of the forum is barely crawling... I think it's moved on, but people rarely have faith in the government in the first place, so who cares if they declare pizza is a vegtable? They're wrong. They get paid either way. Pizza can have vegtables on it, but it isn't a vegtable. I don't understand the whole obesity fight going on recently... but, do we really care? I don't see any output either way... Even Cormorant doesn't get into these childish kinds of fights on the forums... and I believe he's below the "age joke" that's been tossed around. Could we at least mark this as [Flamebait]? Getting a bit ridiculous here
