Here's the Original forum links to it...

I am restarting my Space Rocks Shooter.
Everyone who has helped me with this with code ideas, advice and models gets a Complete Copy for FREE!

Anyone who wants to help me name it, let me know!
Voting will go until January 1, 2012. I will take the top 10 names and narrow them down to 3 and then a final vote scheduled in February-- the WHOLE month-- and I'll take the best one!

Also I am struggling to implement an Online Leaderboard. You register your name and password, then the game uploads your best scores to the worldwide leaderboard. Something similar to Audiosurf in that it allows for worldwide leaderboards.

I think I'll allow players to tweak their ship's color and some configurations, but overall, they're all the same. (Let me know if you'd want something like this.)

I'm starting this AGAIN! Please let me know...

Here's what I thought of for my "version"...

5 Difficulty Settings
up to 15 different Boosters (like Power Ups in other games)
3 Sizes of Space Rocks (Asteroids)
Space Junk (4 types)
3 types of UFOs
various Mineral Ores (collected from destroyed Space Rocks)

I have some things worked out, but others I can't quite grasp...
I can write the logic out in English, but getting the computer to do it in that same fashion seems to be a stretch... >_<
I know I'll eventually get it, but I need to figure out how and where to create 'waves' and such.

With the backbone and 'radar' that I have available to me, I'm trying to figure out how to build the "world", implement a "skybox" and insert "waves" of enemies and rocks.

I envision it much like "Blasteroids" with planets (or a nifty outer space picture) behind the 'playfield'. The rocks and stuff just above it, and your score and ship properties above that on a HUD or something with a radar.

Does this sound too extensive? Does this sound like I've taken on more than I can handle?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

~Ani

Eagleson's Law of Programming: Any code of your own that you haven't looked at for six or more months, might as well have been written by someone else.

As things progress let us know and I'm sure there's not just me that can help. As for suggestions, my minds full of stuff at the moment for my own project so I wish you luck with this.

Thanks, WLGxf!
I know you'll be there (and the rest of the TGC forums and Admins) to assist me.

I wanted to dump this out there-- and modernize it a bit-- and try to keep it current. LOL

It seems that maybe I should work on it some, deal with some things and issues, and possibly toss the baton to someone else... O.o >_<

Well, I guess, I can see where it goes... ^_^

I'm making some changes and working to restore this back to a workable state (even after the long hard look at the old code)...

Anyway, once I have a better understanding of the program and what it does, I may rewrite the code I need to and build it a little faster. (Something, I surely hope will come to pass! ^_^)

Here's to the effort!

Old code always looks odd. You're probably better off doing a rewrite using the old code as a reference. You'll probably find that you'll improve on things so much too.

Good luck man!

@WLGfx: I am working on that soon. I seem to have misplaced my reference books, but I will have that fixed come this weekend.

Thanks for the vote of confidence... Every little bit helps!

Unneeded Update

There's a thin line between Genius and Insanity.
Which side are you on? (Or is it more likely that you're balancing precariously on that line and struggling not to fall one way or the other?)
