There are a lot of ways to optimize your levels to run smoothly, have you tried searching the forum on ways to increase your fps? Have you tried WASP mod?

A big one would be if you have a lot of NPC's in your level, try to make only a couple appear at a time. This should help out your framerate immensely!

Hope this helped,

@TriSpefear Studios

For your information, the WASP mod performance increases are now part of V119 beta, so that's all you need now as WASP mod is no longer being developed or supported.

@eagle:

have you test it in a ready-build game? on my machine testgame remains the same, but a raise in fps of 5 in a buildgame whatever happens on the screen.

dont know why, could be that you are running a highend-machine, then you wont see much until you can use the culling-mechanisms.

I would say that in test mode is that your pc is also processing the editor as well as caclulating the test game, and so consuming more resources.

Some people don't seem to get this when using duo core or tripple and quad processors with 4 or more mb ram.

Well i dont' suffer on these pcs but do get bad fps on celeron systems, as one would expect

Can you tell us your pc spec

I'am not GOD but i can make you see again by taking my fingers out of your eyes and i can make you walk again by taking your beer away, but if you take my beer you will not walk again

AMD phenomII 6x2,8ghz, 4gig ram, 1gb-gpu ati hd5770 (i think), 10.000rpm hd. problem in this system is the nonexistent soundcard and the not-that-good graphics-card. its mainly made for printdesign, not THAT need to be good on 3d ... before i get started with fpsc
also has drops when playing deusex-hr or other fps-games.
cant say what board it is, i am at work atm.

Have you tried the newest beta release, v119 beta2 , most are seing massive leaps in FPS.

[edit] I forgot all about.. FPSC Optimization Guide [V3.00].

It's a little old, but you should still be able to follow the basic guidlines in this guide for optimizing your levels. It was a big help for me when I first puchased FPSC.

And Here Is A Penguin:

I'm afraid you may be expecting too much, here is the exact quote from the WASP thread.

Quote: "10%-80% Speed increase, system dependent. Lower end machines should see greater increases."

I suggest you follow That Guy John's advice as level design is still your best friend when it comes to increasing FPS.

@Scene Commander, it was pointed out in another thread thread that 1.19 has Vsync turned off while 1.18 still had it enabled. Was disabling Vsync in 1.19 something that was carried over from the integration of WASP mod? And if that's the case, would turning it off for V1.18 lead to the same performacne results? Because I did see an impressive frame rate increase on my rig (running with a Nvidea GTS 250) from 58ish to 70+ when swapping in the 1.19 beta. But is this only because 1.19 has been uncapped or is there optimization going on from WASP?

EDIT:

Quote: "level design is still your best friend when it comes to increasing FPS."

If he's only getting single-digit framerates on his computer, I would also recommend (maybe over level design optimization) running the game without shader effects and/or dynamic lighting.

My PSU burned out on my higher end computer last week and I'm back to my integrated video card on my other one for the time being, and even a small two room test level drags at about 15fps with the post-bloom shader enabled for me. Disabling postprossing and blossershaders in the setup.ini, and dynamic lighting, bumps my fps for the same testmap up to 80.

My CPU is a low-end to me at least in that case lower should see greater increases

@TheDesertEagle You shouldn't expect so much improvement in a very low end computer.It's just like running crysis on a laptop with an integrated gpu and a dual core, it will lag like hell no matter how optimize your pc is.If you are getting 5-6 fps with WASP on then you might get 0-3 fps with it off, so that is like 300-200% increase
