Anyways... I usually use my laptop for FPSCX9 and it runs fine for me, but lately i feel like i should beef up my older desktop and use that.
My older Desktop specs are:

Name:HP Workstation XW6200 (built around 2005)
Operating System: Windows XP
CPU: Intel Xeon 2.8 GHZ single-core
RAM: 2 GB
Video Card(aka:Crap): NIVIDA Quardro PCI-E Series, 64MB Memory(ouch)
Budget:$80-$120

Since i am upgrading, i guess i can take some input on what i should upgrade to.

Ok well, you would need a new CPU and a new video card. Which is not going to be easy on a $80-120 budget. But here is what i got:

CPU
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6718200&Sku=A79-0251

GPU
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=440905&CatId=7005

Now those are not very good, but with that low budget that is the best i could do at the current moment in time. Also, TigerDirect is a safe website and their prices are not too shabby. I have purchased many parts from their online store, and have yet to have a problem. Shipping was fine!

Hope this helps,
- Josh

If your planning on running FPSC, don't bother upgrading the CPU or Memory as it only uses one core, and a maximum of 2GB Memory anyway. I'd suggest getting a better GPU.

Or you could just add a few more bucks and buy these:
GPU:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1367481
Cpu:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7023171&CatId=4919

Those can run FPSC and many games to the max, you could just save up another 40 bucks and you'll rarely worry about lag on FPSC

take a look at the bus of your graphiccard. its not worth to upgrade agp or pci1-slot, would be a waist of money. if you have to, keep yours a while and finally buy a completely new machine.

@JRH

yes, but windows uses 20%, musicplayer needs another 10, antivir usues 20% etc. so you only have about 50% of the specs left

It would still be better to be able to play games not made with FPSC

you cant really upgrade your cpu because then you need a motherboard... also im guessing your graphics card isnt pci express, and if it isnt, there is no point upgrading it because agp cards are rubbish, expensive, and rare...
if i were you, i would get a new pc for christmas... if you build it yourself you could get a crysis maxing machine for under £300 which is about $450...

You think those specs are horrible ?!?!?

I run FPSC X9 on the specs.

Processor: Singlecore 1.73 GHz
RAM: 512
Graphics card: Direct X9 Pixelshader 1, video RAM 128.

I can barely watch a Youtube video with my laptop. It runs out of batery within 10 minutes. It takes him 7 minutes to boot. It takes about 5 seconds to start Firefox. And it needs 5 minutes to check my email in outlook. Once I had a competition with a friend of mine about who got the slowest computer. Thats how I know al these time records Yeah... Its time for me to buy a new PC.

Oh, wow..... I just looked at my laptop's specs and they are pretty good.

Name: Acer Aspire 1910T (2010)
Operating System: Windows 7
CPU: Intel 1.30 GHZ Dual-Core
RAM: 4 GB
Video Card: Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset Family, with 1695MB Memory.

I think i should just stay with this. Agree?

You would still need a gpu upgrade though FPSC don't run well on express chipsets.

Ok. Is a max FPS of 22 good enough?

Hardly man. That the LOWEST you want a game to get... after characters are added in and all.

My suggestion is that you build a budget PC for around $125 - $200. If that sinks into your Christmas... then oh well.

You could get away with buying a cheap $30 DDR3 compatible AMD motherboard, 4GB of DDR3 memory ($30-$40), and a dual-core AMD CPU
compatible with your motherboard's socket (I suggest AM3). An Nvidia 430 GT or 9800 GT GPU should suite you fine ($50- $70)

Ever heard of Newegg.com? They are VERY legit and builds can be WAY CHEAP.

Whoever said that Intel graphics fail, obviously never owned a Core i5.

@ASTEK

Good Advice, I will be sure to find a way to get all the upgrades. If i am going to upgrade then i'll just do it to my desktop. Upgrading a netbook might be a little... challanging

I agree completely with ASTEK, and if you can't find what you are looking for on Newegg then check out TigerDirect. Both are good websites in my opinion.

Also keep in mind that windows 7 requires more resources to run. You might want to look into how to optimize windows 7 so it's less of a memory hog. Things like turning Aero Peak and the "glass" off.
