Hey all,

I'm quite new to FPSC but I do have loads of experience in modding Half Life 1. So it's been literally years since I've decided to get back into gaming and modding.

I've created a static entity and placed it within the FPSC editor. For some reason, the terrain is super bright... But any other models placed in the FPSC editor have the correct lighting. Any suggestions on how I can get the lighting correct on this?

Make sure it's set as a static entity in the editor. Are there any lights added to the scene? What is the ambient set too? If your using shaders, which one are you using and what shader maps do you have linked to the model?

Only other concern with this is since it is an entity AI might not like it and characters won't be able to move over the terrain.

Static Mode = Yes

There is one light placed in the middle of the scene. Range is 500 and the color is #6c0000.

To my knowledge I haven't got any shaders enabled or its just (v1.18 default settings). There is no shader effect linked to the model either.

For now I'm simply testing environments and how they are rendered within FPSC.

I hope this helps. Another screen.

I have no idea what is going on. The terrain was created in blender. No effects are applied to the model. I created the mesh in blender, applied the texture and thats it. Nothing special.

Try disabling shaders and see if that makes a difference. Also if you post the FPE code it might help solve the problem.

Okay, disabling shaders seems to fix the problem. But then I need to sacrifice visual quality. Definitely not worth it.

I've attached a ZIP file containing the .x, fpe and dds file. So its the whole entity.

Could I simply disable shaders on that specific entity?

Try setting your post processing to 0 in your setup.int in your FPSC Folder. Oh and welcome to the forums.

Success! Okay, so this is kind of a random process but it seemed to work. This is exactly what I did to get it to render correctly even with all shaders enabled and post processing enabled.

FPSC seems pretty buggy but still I really like this software. Each bug can be taken care of.

Here's the random procedure:
1. Disable Shaders from within FPSC "Preferences" Menu.
2. Test your level to see if the model appears correct.
3. Save and Exit FPSC.
4. Go back into FPSC.
5. Enable Shaders from within FPSC "Preferences" Menu.
6. Test your level. The models will appear illuminated and bright.
7. Exit Test mode and right click on the entity that appears bright.
8. Change StaticMode = Yes to StaticMode = No. This will make your entity a dynamic object.
9. Test your level. And your entity should render fine in test mode.
10. Save and Exit FPSC.
11. Open setup.ini in your FPSC directory. (open in Notepad or your text editor of choice)
12. Look for postprocessing=1 and change it to postprocessing=0.
13. Save setup.ini.
14. Go back into FPSC and test your level.
15. Models should appear correctly.
16. Exit FPSC.
17. Edit setup.ini again and change postprocessing=0 to postprocessing=1. Save and close setup.ini
18. Go back into FPSC and open your level with the entity that appears bright.
19. Right click on the entity and change StaticMode=No to StaticMode=Yes.
20. Test your level and you should have a model that isn't so bright it makes your eyes want to shrivel up like a raisin.

As I mentioned before, I know this is a long and extremely random process. But it worked for me so I hope it can help someone else.

I'm going to post some screenshots to show your what I've done with this terrain.

I'm glad you took the time to explain your peocess. I think it could be very helpful to the new and old fpsc users. Thank You
