A very cool project!

Dbpro may run faster but after 6 years of weird errors from it, I switched to gdk. The errors would just shut down my game without error messages (not a untitled1 mistake

Hi there.

The ranger is going to make a complaint against my for destroying half of the trees.Quite entertaining, and shocks are almost real.

Good work WLGfx !!

Cheers.

lol @ chafari - Thanks man... I'm sure if the ranger had a go he wouldn't complain. He'd probably change the fuel canisters for beer.

@sovr - Whilst I was re-doing this in DBP I used TYPES as my variables which cut out most of the common problems of typos on variables. I'm a C/C++ programmer and I got bored so I converted it.

I'm still wondering if anyone can make any improvements.

Runs smoothly at 15 fps on my ancient laptop. I hit an embarrassing number of trees though ...

I get 27FPS on my laptop lol... It's got a timer control in the main game loop so it should run the same speed on any computer. I was shocked to find that it ran much faster then the GDK version though.

I did get a score of 1625 on level 5 though... he he he

I've a thing for DBPro too. It's definitely been one of those languages anyone who has used it will always come back to sometime or other. It definitely does have that appeal. Although I've got a few gripes about it I can get around them easily enough without bother.

Now all I need to do is find another game or something to work on. I'll probably do the same thing and program it in C/C++ and then convert it over again for everyone. But then again, that depends on how big it ends up being. Ideas?

I remember that old Star Wars game where you had to travel through the Death Star and shoot into the hole at the end. That was good, and it was around at about the same time as the one you have just posted.

There was also BattleZone, a fun Tank simulation.

@basjak - Never even passed my train of thoughts trying to sell anything I write. I'm more of a hobbyist. Maybe sometime I might start a big project, I've a good idea for one.

@Pincho - Out of the two you've posted it would be more likely the Star Wars one I'd have a go at. Those were the good old games. I'm going to have a look at google and see what sites I can find for old classic games to have a blast at making a remake. I may even team up with someone to get the next remake looking more classy. As you can see from the source code, all the main elements are split up into there respective files. A habit and worth while practice for anyone.

What I usually do before ploughing straight into writing a game is to pull out the elements that will need some work. In the bike game I had to toy around with the endless terrain and then come up with ideas for a super fast collision method.

Youtube was a great source for getting the ideas together to quickly put together the 3D Motor Chase game. It had videos of the original game as well as videos of a remake on the iPad, which didn't look very playable at all. That gave me the inspiration to do a version that was more fun. I put graphics aside for better game-play.
