You gotta be careful with gear lust! As you'll buy all the tools in the world and still never build anything.

There is a lot of good stuff out there, but depends what you have in mind for your next project?

Leadwerks engine is more for C++ development. If you are comfortable with C++ you should compare Leadwerks to DarkGDK. I recommend one of these if you already understand C++ or would like to learn it for your career goals. It takes more effort to get started in such environments but the longterm benefits are worth the effort; since C++ is industry standard for DirectX game development. There is also DarkGDK.NET that can work with Visual C#, and Visual Basic; with these there is limited plugin support and the community and support for this product is not spectacular; however again they contain enough commands to produce any game, you get alot of additional Microsoft commands to work with databases, lists and network connections.

DBPRO is derived from the BASIC language, which features commands and expressions that form plain english instructions with spaces between words and long informative names. It is capable of building any type of game you can think of and has many plugins to help speed up your work. The community for this product is quite large, many the guys here are new to games development so I'd say it is a more comfortable way to learn.

to burning feet man, thanks for the advice, but i DO plan on building games.

as for the question, it sounds like the Bonanza and the books are the way to go, as i am fairly new to this software and i know two or three commands for the C language. If i'm making a bad choice stop me though....
