Very much liked it! I have the feeling something is missing though... Have you tried adding quiet but fast bells in the background? I have no idea about music making The choice of accords was rather complex, I still can't quite catch the average tune of it.

My rating : 7/10

Sounds cool.

FL Studio 4 is 'Ol skool'. Not that it is bad, I was using 5 for half a decade until earlier this year, the new versions are pretty similar, but they did alot of helpful things with the piano roll and pattern view; they added a lot of life savers and there is a much better wave editor now. Best feature for me is the ghosted patterns and automation envelopes.

It is old shool in a way, but it mostly depends on the user to make it sound modern. There's lots of coool (free) plugins to download too.
I was thinking of upgrading to the latest version, but to do that, you need to pay. It's not much, but at the moment, I'm not really considering it. Probably later, though.

Don't know if this was the theme you were going for, but this totally makes me think of like a 90's background RTS/shooter music, like command and conquer

Also, this is more electonica (sorry, being OCD about genres)

how long u been using midi for?

I havnt used fruityloops since v1(which was terrible but the best free midi software i could get at the time) sounds like they've improved it a lot since then.

You ever used reason + abelton in rewire?

I think you'll get a kick out of using them, and the types of music you seem interested in creating go hand in hand with it.

you can record any parameter or tempo adjustments on any part of their interface or FX plugin so you can get some really mind bending effects from eq's, delays, hi/low pass filters, envelope, any plugin can be manipulated
can take a track that sounds good and turn it into something bent.

Abelton live + reason = epic tracks.

I'd post an example but i don't want to hijack your thread.

but having said all that, you are doing good things with fruity loops.
keep it up.

Heheh, the theme I was aiming for, was more towards space, and encounter of alien species.

I think the song has a mixture of Electronica, Trance, Modern. But, I'm not that good with categorizing this kinda music. I'm actually a metalhead.

Hum, hard to tell. I'm making music for quite some time (30 years or so), but mostly it's metal. Had classical music lessons for orgue/piano at the age of 9, and since then, I've been bitten by the music virus. Hehehheh.
The first music (midi) program I used, was Digital Orchestrator Plus, and later on when Fl Studio 4 came out, I bought it, and I'm still using it today.

Fl Studio allows recording and changing the parameters of the various FX/plugins and the tempo too. I kept this song rather simple actually.
But, I'm sure that Abelton Live and Reason are amazing programs as well. Heard cool songs made by those programs.

reason and abelton are expensive (over 1000 when i bought them - reason 4 + abelton 8)far less now (about 600 total) but they are worth every cent. and by all accounts reason 6 is beyond epic, even more epic than skyrim. which is pretty epic.

heres are some examples of what you can do.

i know you said one example but im am giving you two

one reason reason native example

and one ableton reason hybrid

yeah, that's my voice, it is however quite heavily processed. I wanted a synthetic almost sine wave quality to it so i squashed and sculpted it to get that effect.

glad you like.

the first one was an assignment for my Sound engineering diploma at SAE. I scored 97 out of 100 for that mix.

Hey, The Slayer. I don't really visit this forum anymore, but Housewares does and he told me that you posted more music, so I came back just to hear it.

This particular song isn't metal, so it doesn't interest me. But it's still great that you're sharing your creations here. So keep it up, and I'll keep coming back whenever Housewares tells me you've posted a song.

Not to take the thread too far off track, but since we're both here: Seeing as 2011 is almost over what would you say were the best metal releases of the year? I have to say I was a little dissapointed with this year compared to last year which was amazing for old school thrash metal.

The new Megadeth album was alright, but it never really blew me away like their previous album did at certain times. Anthrax finally released that album they were talking about for years. It was a little too much like the John Bush-era Anthrax for my tastes, but they have Joey Belladonna in the band again so that makes me really hopeful for their next album.

The new Iced Earth album really took me by surprise. They could have easily sunk into obscurity after their last album (which, I have to say, was sub par) and losing Matt Barlow AGAIN, but they sound surprisingly awesome with the new vocalist.

Other than those albums, I really can't think of any other albums this year by veteran metal bands that were noteworthy. I have to say the best thrash metal albums of the year came from newer bands like Evile and Warbringer.

Anyway, hope I didn't take the thread too far off track.

Well, I haven't bought much new albums lately. Got me other things (Leadwerks engine, and some other goodies). Heheheh.

Yeah, the older bands were somewhat dissapointing this year. Most good albums came from newer bands.
A have a friend who bought a fair bit of albums, and here's a list of great thrash albums anno 2011:

- Havok: Time is up
- Vader (not really thrash, but great nonetheless): Welcome to the Morbid Reich
- Hellbringer(thrash/speed): Hellbringer
- Grave Descent(thrash/death): Grave descent
- Onslaught: Sounds of Violence
- Legion of the Damned: Descent into chaos
- Injury: Unleash the Violence
- Toxic Holocaust: Conjure and Command
- Revocation: Chaos of Forms

The only other old thrash band worthy of notification would be Destruction with Day of Reckoning.

Yeah, definatly not a bad album, but their previous work was better indeed.

I'm anxiously awaiting the new Slayer album.
