Thanks. Here's another peak at the pack. Currently 100 sprites in all(shown is just a fraction of the content);

I am soo looking forward to it. I can see a bunch that would fit nicely with my 98% WIP game.

Allllrighty then! After battling a fire I'm back in the game...sort of.

I was able to recover some files from my portable drive, it melted...

I've decided to work on the ship builder for another week or two and since I've finally got AppGameKit I'll be writing a cool little app to build your own ships and export them. Should be a piece of cake.

For now I'm releasing the first part of Space Effect, Pack A. I'm giving away a free version and paid version(srry guys). The Free version comes with 12 different sprites with no variations and half resolution. The paid version comes with 72 sprites with variations and full resolution.

Download the Free Version Here!
Buy the Full Version Here!
Note: New store system is in place so download is instant now after buying.

This now brings my little project up to 319 sprite images and over 1600 downloads.

Thanks guys!

Very nice, hopefully you'll make a few dubloons to replace your burnt-out kit.

Looking good Josh! Sorry to hear about the fire, I hope you're okay and it wasn't too bad.

It looks like star #29485 is identical to star #53093.

pretty cheep pack think I might get it at 5.40 cent per pack. Maybe you should sell a super pack though instead so that there is a-lot more sprites and stuff. I would say make a super pack of that has 10 or 20 times the amount sprites that you have and times that price by 4 then you would get a-lot more customers.

I thought 17cents per sprite was a steal. But yes, I do plan on a larger one, once I get the ship builder finished. That alone has almost 100 sprite images to create an infinite amount of ship designs. I plan to sell that separate and in a duel-combo.

Doing some modification to one of your sprites I came up with this. Didn't take me long ether to modify your textures.
Basically I got board today of developing my sprite engine.

Thanks for these Josh, lots of great stuff in this thread.

I had an idea for a circular 'breakout' game a while back but shelved it, now I want to try Freedom Engine I thought it would be a good time to try it.

Seen your pong arena media pack and realised it would be perfect, I also realised my idea was not as original as I hoped. So a few questions.

Have you(or anyone) made a pong game with this artwork?
Have you(or anyone) made a breakout game with this artwork?
Do you know of a circular breakout game in existence already(it's probably been done lots of times )?
Do you have any ideas for a game you would like to make with any of this artwork?(since I am looking for a project for FE).

Thanks again for this library of great artwork

For the title? That would be a great name, or is 'Break In' a different concept you had in mind?

I'm looking at this image...

...and thinking of all kinds of possibilities for different games I can imaging controlling the 'Pattles' by tilting the iPad(or whatever), does AppGameKit have commands for this?

The Pong Arena set of media was a model request I did back in the day for my 100models in 100days project. I have no idea if the game was ever made or not because I never saw anything after that.

I think it would be pretty cool to have a circular pong game. There was this game called 'castle' I think where you flew a ship in a circular motion and had to fight an enemy in the center. It had a shield that you could take down piece by piece. But once he lost so much of his shield he was able to shoot a very powerful beam at you. So you have to move fast to make the kill.

I always wanted to remake that game with an update look and multiple layers. You can always pick-up my Space Effect media (wink wink) and make something shiny.

Honestly I have a lot of media here that can be used in a space action game. So go to town!

Thanks Josh.

I think I will probably go ahead and try a circular breakout game, seems simple enough.

That said, I want to try to use a perspective view like that image I posted above, so I've already complicated it.

I have developed a new coordinate system(testing it with GDK) and it works really well, I can even use the Box2D commands and my system positions and scales everything with a perspective, sort of using the 3rd dimension I'm betting that using it may come back to haunt me when things get more complex, I hope I don't have to ditch it.

I will post the code to add perspective to your games when I re-write it with FE/AGK.

There's a top-down version too...at least I think I added top-down version of all the graphics? The arena you posted is at 45 degrees I believe.

Yeah, I could use top-down version but the one at an angle looks better. I also like the idea of being able to tilt the perspective to any angle, still can't be sure how well it will work until I get a little further with it.

For the rest of the month I'm cutting the Space Effect media in price by %50, building up to the ship builder. You can also get another %50 off that by tweeting or posting it on Facebook.

Space Effect Media

When you click the Buy Now it'll pop-up at 2.99.

Here's a quick look at the media being used in AGK:

Thanks guys!

I'll be buying this since I will be using it for my first AppGameKit game.

Here is a pic, blocks in middle are temp media, I will make something more fitting to the environment. Pretty similar to your video but with a circular theme

That looks cool. It be neat to see the background slowly rotate, maybe add some orbits in and have some asteroids fly-by. It looks like a Circular Breakout Game. Maybe add some glows to bring out the paddle like I did with my video.

I also have the free sfx pack at the top of the page with some good particle sprites that can add life to the scene.

Thanks for the tips, will probably implement everything you said, at the moment the moon does move slowly across the screen. It needs much more to bring it to life a little, concentrating on game play for now, it is now two player, whoever hits the ball last gets any points collected.

Particles don't work on my Vista laptop, I've tried most of the demo's and they just don't show up, but I get an occasional flicker which I think is showing the particles very briefly.

What kind of particles are you wanting to create? I may have a simple system that could work for you...

None yet.

None of the particle examples work on my laptop. After reporting the issue and seeing the issue has been previously reported, I have concluded the following.

On some ATI machines particles may not display correctly. The current workaround is to create your particles before any sprite creation. So if you are creating a game for windows you should bear this in mind until it is fixed.

Thanks for the offer though baxslash, I should be able to add particles now I have a workaround

I'll make paper, scissors, spock and lizard if anyone has need for them.
