Regarding game design.. what aspects?... Lol quick jump over to my blog click my banner and find my dev blog on the left...
I am doing a project dubbed "The Computer Game Design Course Project" or "TCGDC Project" for short look out for its post title tags...
I would do what Rampage says and get a CompSci Degree...
You could just also get the Hands On Dark Basic Professional books from TGC or get the PDF versions from the official website... theyre great get up to speed books or search for TDKs tutoriala on the forum...
And learn it all yourself... and work at it alongside your degree...
Get flexible in all aspects of game design to give yourself an edge above other applicants and then have your main expertise.. be it texturing or coding... knowing how everything pieces together is a benefit... also once you pick up on the basic syntax of DBPros BASIC style you can jump into C++ or C#... By using either DarkGDK or PureGDK and then break away into the vastness
Epic story in there somewhere...
I wrote the above with the asumption you know nothing about game development to make it a simple thorough enough explanation... so hope this helped and please know that I wrote all this on my phone lol
