EDIT:

Guys, Dark Evenger is definitely on to something with increasing FPSC's RAM usage capabilities. I tested a level that he provided (the one in the video) that he posted in a post below and it wasn't 30 FPS, but I don't have the best specs either (see again in a lower post). So I think he is telling the truth and definitely might have something in the works.

[/EDIT]

Wish I could understand what you're saying in the video, then I could hear what you did.

I'm sorry if I come across as harsh but I find this very hard to believe. I've investigated buying X10 and its users like to poke fun at X9, especially when it comes to the number of characters. Someone made a video in X10 with 50 enemies in one room. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NhUhHtnQB4

What are your system specs? If we could all replicate this, it would bring about a whole new era in FPSC.

Thanks for sharing.

is completely and utterly worthless.

70 character and no lagg [downloadable level] - that counts!

would be very nice to explain what you did to insert this x10 feature into x9.

the x10-feature has also extreme lag in big rooms, yours not that much. really hard to believe without explanation.

dont get me wrong. would be absolutely great to get this (even as a mod or outsourced program as lightstorm engine.

it is not a x10-feature

i just "overclock" fps creator because fps creator is a 32bit application and it can basicly use maixmum 1.83 Gb of RAM
but with some modification we can make the application use more than 2 gb of ram so if you have 4 or more RAM it will grow up you fps creator capacity.

i have a computer that i buyed in 2008 it have 8 Gb RAM , ati radeon hd 4650 , quad core processor 2.3 Ghz and windows 7 professionnal.

i can put a test map if you want (but you need to have 4 Gb or more for see the difference) or just make the same thing and you will have the posibility to make the same thing.

do you want i post a test map ? or a tutorial in english?

Please post a tutorial in English, we would love to make our games faster!

I'll download your "High Quality" map and see if it works. We would be able to make much better out door and war games if we could replicate this!

Thank you,

Hello again!

Just tested it; had 10-15 FPS (see picture attached, in the top left hand corner). My specs:

Processor: Intel Core2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10 GHz
Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

However, there are a few reasons as to why:

1. My Graphics card is an express chipset

2. I had other applications running in the background.

I still think this is a good advancement for FPSC; 70 characters in the test game would probably make the editor crash. I once was running 30 DarkAI characters in different rooms and I had, at times, 0 FPS And that was when they weren't in the players view! 70 Characters all in view of the player is quite different. Do you have an invisible ceiling over the whole area? That might help at least a little bit.

Thanks for uploading the map for us!

no i haven't use any invisible ceiling.

ok i see that it worked with you because you don't have really good specs for high quality graphics with 70 characters but you have 10-15 fps and i find it really good so if you want i can upload my FPSC-Game.exe?

Now that I think about it, I guess if you had a major speed increase, you wouldn't need invisible segments!

Quote: "so if you want i can upload my FPSC-Game.exe"

Please do! I would only suggest that you consider creating a new thread and make this an actual Mod. If you would rather not deal with people and providing bug fixes, etc, then you could just upload it here. But I think people might appreciate it if you uploaded it in a new thread. However, seeing the reactions given here it may not actually be as good an idea as I'm thinking it is.

Either way, thank you for your generosity, I would greatly appreciate it if you did, even if no one else does.

Speaking of everyone else, you might want to ask a Mod (either by email or by asking a post here) if they could rename it to something like How to get rid of 1.8 GB Memory cap or Make the most of your RAM with Mod. These would be legitamate names if you made the game maximize RAM usage.

The other request I have would be that you provided the source code with the modifications (if that is doable) or if you could tell us how you did it.

Thank you very much for your work!

Ummm!...I am lost...you have an exe (obviously modded), you have the demo, so what did you create this exe with if you dont have the source?
Maaybe its a translation problem.

What is this exe doing to increase fps like this?
Is it safe to use or gonna screw up my comp?
I think it would be best if you gave this to someone who knows what they are doing to look at before giving it out to the general forum population.

This has nothing to do with the memory cap.

You have to excuse my scepticism here but even if you have managed to introduce instancing into FPSC x9 which really is an x10 feature I dont know how you could do it without having the source in the first place.

I honestly cannot believe that it has taken until now for someone to realise that FPSC's memory cap was limiting performance. I'm sure everyone knew about it, but just sort of accepted it?

Anyway, this is very clever, compared to everyone else XD

Depends. Program Boosters, (sort of how TurboBoost in TuneUp Uttilities works), have been with us for a long time now. This is just another example. Altough there are more disadvantages then advantages; two big issues people reported using these programas are memory leaks and the inefficienty sharing of memory across the system.

The memory cap is in place because of 32 bit operating systems not because TGC are trying to limit performance.

All of this solves nothing, in my opinion. If you create a game, unless the end user has the same or more RAM than you it's not going to run on their system. If the end user is still using XP it's not going to run on their system.

Can you please make a tutorial because Zombie Killers patch only works for me until I don't put in AI because after that it goes down to 20 fps or max 30 fps but I only have 10 enemys on the map and its not a big map. So if you have time please make a tutorial.
