Hi all,

I have been working on an API into Apollo, Product Versioning and the CodeBase. It's working pretty well and would allow an application developer to add things like "Check for latest version of DBPro" into an IDE - or (even better) it would allow someone to write a Windows based browser for Apollo, perhaps presenting the forum in an "Outlook" style? The messages could be stored locally on your hard drive (like email) for quick searching, reference, etc.

The first version of the API is nearly complete and I'm willing to let it out to a select few for review. So, if you're a Windows app developer and fancy taking a look and perhaps use this interface drop me an email. This is of no benefit to DB/DBP programmers btw.

Cheers,

Rich

Hey, I was doing something like this some time ago in VB. (If it is what I think it is...) Any way, since apollo was updated, it stopped working 'cause all the links changed.

what does this mean? It'll be used for another forum?
I'm willing to look at it if you still want reviewers.

Probably we can't use it in our projects written in DB/DBPro.

Would make a cool tool though for support in games. If it crashes a window pops up asking the user for a brief summary of what happened and then it searches the forum and finds answers.

It means you cannot interface with the API from DB/DBP, hence if you're not a VB/VC/etc developer you won't be able to use this. You also need to know how to send/stream data to/from a web site.

Cheers,

Rich

sockets, htttp, udp, tcpip as well as almost everything else is way more robust in vb.net as opposed to vb6 (I program in both). If you haven't learned much vb yet and are wanting to learn I would suggest bypass vb6 altogether and use .net -MHO

hehee... blue gold, interesting
still remember calling Blutac Smurf pooh at school (^_^)

hey i wonder. what does the SDK actually allow you to do?
i mean would be nice to be able to connect online to the database in dbp (using a vc++ dll ofcourse) and then allowing players to have exclusive things to a game if they're registered dbp members
like lil Rick, Rich, Lee & Mike multplayer models or something just as silly.

I emailed Rich about obtaining the Apollo api and I never heard back. Is it Rich@thegamecreators.com?

I didn't receive a reply or a mailer daemon error.

?
thanks
