The good news is I was finally able to get the 1.19 Install to work.

Now, the problem is that there is some kind of issue with the motion with this version.
An easy example would be the Overhead Fan.
Normally, it spins steadily, but with 1.19 it slows down and speeds up, sometimes stutters.
Walking Motion that was previously smooth now has almost a jerking motion. This motion is similar to the look of a person's walking pace, but unintentional.

Here are the combinations that I have tested thus far:
A previous game build using 1.18 exe works fine.
WASP or 1.19 exe with the same previous game build has jerky motion.
New game build with 1.19 works fine with 1.18, but has jerky motion with 1.19 and WASP exe.
Turning shaders and postprocess off does not change.
Building with low, medium and high textures all produce the same jerky motion.
Tried with different display resolutions, and disabled background ops and screen saver, just to be sure.

Using Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, 2.6 gHz, 4Gig RAM, SATA Drive, Nvidia Quadro FX 1500 (Runs very smooth with old and new games).

Help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

As you've tested this with both WASP and V1.19 I'm guessing it's a timer issue or a sync rate issue, although I can't think why you're getting a problem off the top of my head. Could you please post a FPM using stock media outlining the problem and I'll look into it.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

It feels like a timer issue. I don't know if sync rate would be effected by changing my display refresh rate, but I did try different refresh rates just to be sure, and the results were the same, motion problem only in 1.19/WASP.

Please tell me what is FPM?

Thanks.

Hi,

A FPM is a FPSC map file found in your mapbank folder.

You may upload it to this thread if you like, just please make sure that you are experiencing the issue with the map you upload.

Best

Oh, ok.
Actually, it is not specific to any map. I can load any of the sample/tutorial maps and get the same result.

This may be helpful!
I was going to make a video to show the issue.
Ironically, recording at 30fps, 640x480, makes the problem disappear within the game.
If I do not record, the problem returns.

Does this help with a solution?

Thanks.

Wow, actually...
Having the Video Capture program loaded (recording or not), and at any resolution fixes the issue. When I close the Video Capture program, the issue returns. The program is Bandicam.

I can't say I've heard of Bandicam, but I'll do a bit of research and see what I can devise.

@cds1234

When you are getting this jumping, does your frame rate jump randomly or is it steady?.

I've also attached a fpsc-game.exe, could you please test this, you'll find a number on the screen, could you let me know if this is a 1 or a 0.

Thanks

Hi There,

There is a number 1.

I have tried the new exe and unfortunately it does not fix the problem.
Can you please tell me how to display fps?
It was showing fps before, but it isn't now.
I believe that they were fluctuating though, somewhere between 70 and 90.
With this new exe, movement does seem a tiny bit better, but time related items like Overhead Fans, still have a very obvious jerky motion.
The fan example is from "Modern Day 2" model pack.

Thanks.

I found that dynamic lights effect the speed.
The movement of the ceiling fans effects other moving objects in a scene. If there is a tracking light in a scene with a ceiling fan, it will move and jerk. If the tracking light is alone, it moves correctly.

Any update info on a fix for this issue?
I'm hoping that the fact that running a vid capture program stops the jumpiness, and that dynamic lights speeds things up (not in a good way) may lead to the correct conclusions. Hoping for a resolution. Thanks!

Sorry, the .exe wasn't meant to fix the problem, I just needed some information from you.

This biggest problem I have with addressing this is that I can't replicate it. I suspect that it's a graphics card issue but not owning this card I can't test that theory.

If anyone else has a similar setup could they let me know if they are having problems?

In the meantime cds1234, could you please ensure your drivers are up to date and see if that helps.

I have found that opening anything like media player, screen recording, and even audio recording programs (like Reaper which is free to try) make the problem go away.

The computer came with XP without DVD-capable codec, so I'm going to test whether adding the DVD-Read codec to Media Player fixes the issue within FPSC. I also have an FX3400 NVidia card that I can test in addition to the FX1500 (I have not tried installing the 3400 yet).
Obviously it would be ideal if there is some way to resolve the issue in case other variations of Quadro have the issue.

Thanks for checking into it. Let me know if the video codec thing sheds any light on timing issue thingie

I would just use V_1.18

"Real Games, For Once"

There is no ability to use range of post process shaders to change from one to another. It's a big step down if wanting to use the beautiful visual effects.

I did find what the issue is.
I uninstalled my DVD Player Codecs. This makes the problem go away.
So, I need to know what Video Codecs a user can use that won't have this issue.
The Codecs I had installed were just standard Div-X.

@cds1234

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure why this might be causing an issue off the top of my head. Does Div-x run in the background? I'm afraid I don't know.

Not sure how it works. I can open media player without anything running and it smooths out game timing. I can do the same with multi-track recording programs also.
