Hello,

I am wanting to make it pitch black where there's no light. I have 'Set ambient light' to 0, but there's still ALOT of light

What methods would I go about for accomplishing this task? Thanks for any help!

you don't need to hide the ambient light just
set ambient light 0 : color light 0,0,0,0

I have another question though

How do you stop a light from passing through objects? or faces?

You can't without shaders/light mapping.
