It's only been a month since i joined this forum and started developing using FPSCX9. And in these few weeks you guys are the nicest and the best people i have talked to in a game Dev forum in a while. I used Unity 3D for a year and the forum users there were usually not helpful or said that you "shouldn't be making games". This all changed when i joined here. you guys are friendly, helpful, and just the best people in the game business. I give you all thanks and i hope you have the best new years possible.

Happy new years,
Aaron

I have some good news and some bad news....

The good news is, YES!, we give all new users one month of kindness and patience before we HAMMER them.

The bad news is, your month is up!

You are correct my friend. You will find no better or more helpful people than right here. Enjoy. How's the weather in Texas?

Brian.

That's one of the many reasons I have stuck with FPSC x9. Not only is it extremely easy to use, and quite expandable, but the community here is much more...of a community. People are honest, helpful, and willing to give advice, information, and great (often free) FPSC-ready media.

The way FPSC has expanded so vastly over the years is mostly due to its community. Source code mods that brought much needed features often found their way into vanilla FPSC, and media such as Bond1's outstanding work has made FPSC have a lot of the bells and whistles of top engines, such as dynamic full screen shaders.
In addition, the loads of model packs available for purchase give you a variety of options in your game production, as you don't necessarily need to learn to make custom game content yourself. Once again, all thanks to the amazing people here.

I want to say thanks to you all as well, guys, and thank you, for the kind words. A few of the people over at Unity's forums could learn a thing or two about...well, unity.

Sometimes? It's almost always free! In fact, I've been compiling a list of free media threads; most of the media on the list now is from Cosmic Prophet, as he is a HUGE media contributor to the community, but he is far from the only one.

I would like to same the same as well. Thank you everyone!

Now if only I had some free media to hand out in celebration.

I think we have a strong community because we are all working with an engine that looks primitive compared to the others. Everyone knows there are problems, and most of us want to help everyone else out with working around these problems. Not so with the other big engines; they already have everything they want; they don't need any help, and anyone who does is obviously incompetent.

Oh boy, here we go again.

Thanks again to all,

I too share the same feelings... the guys in here (MODS included) are fabulous... I mean where else do you have a kindness timer in the world?

I have been here just hitting a year now and all I can say is... I will be filling an expenses claim form and sending it out to Xplosys... so he can co-sign it with me...

Where as the question of fights... "In the red corner we have..."

EDIT

(The expenses claim... if you are unfamiliar with UK political news... is a joke haha)

Anyhoo... a belated welcome to the Forums buddy...

EDIT

Tri I love your sig!!!

Yes, me too,

I am using FPSC for just 3 months, but however i learned a lot here with the folks, and i also try to share the knowledge i learn here.

There are a lot of things on FPI Scripting that i only learned here with the help of this wonderfull community.

So many times i stuck on my scripts, so many times i could not find an answer, so i just posted my question here, and in some hours, some of the folks here gave me the answer that i spent nights and nights with headaches.

I love FPSC and i Love this Comunity!

And i say proudly, to me FPSC is a great engine, and Yes, you can create a game in the same quality of the games created in Unreal Engine, and Even Crisis. It`s all up to you.

FPSC supports shaders, so if you can by yourself program a shader, you can make metallic reflections on objects, you can create car models and apply a custom shader to make them look like the cars in GTA IV.

If you can model and rigg by yourself, you can create characters like in Batlefield 3, then you create a special skin shader, so he will look like those Million Dollars Games.

If you know to model, you can model a super realistic gun, animate it like the guns in Modern Warfare 3, then apply a super cool looking shader, so you have a perfect looking gun.

If you can use a software like 3dsmax you can model all your level in 3dsmax, and using the plugin VRAY you can create a super-hyper realistic lighting environment, you can use Global Illumination Techniques, so your level will look almost the same quality of MW3 (with fewer details, since FPSC does not support too many polys in scene), then using the plugin Flatiron, you can "paint" the shadows and all the lighting environment in the textures, so you can export those objects directly to FPSC, and all the lighting and shadow information will be there painted over the texture, and you will have in FPSC a level that looks almost the same of Modern Warfare 3.

If you know to animate characters, you can even use motion capture, you can even make motion capture in your house using a kinect Camera and the apropriate software, so now you have a motion capture studio in your house, where you can create awesomes animations for the caracters, so your enemies in FPSC will look like the enemies in Goldeneye 007 of nintendo wii

I think that FPSC is only limited to the user`s skill, patience, willpower and creativity.

And with the support of this beloved community, FPSC is an outstanding piece of software
