They are so annoying... ugh, i still need to get a invisible wall. All the ones i freaking download are just normal segments. Could you attach one please

when I make outdoor levels, I draw them on paper, and try to use as few segments as possible in order to create something convincing. make sure to keep the polycount low, and use very large entities to detail the space. small entities detailing a large space look awful, and crowd the eye.

there's some examples.

ONE MINUTE FORUM-SEARCH. comon guys, dont be so lazy

@trispefear:
simply copy an existing segment-block and place in map, search its texture, copy&rename it and change your fps-files, then open a graphic prog and set color to absolute black and save. full black is getting invisible in fpsc. to place it you have to see it, thats why the downloaded segments are just normal segments until changing the texture to full black. you cant place something you dont see, right?

Be sure to check out the Game Theory section of the forums, there is loads of good level design information in there.

try and keep in mind while you design a level, that you want your player to follow a specific path to a final destination, whether a winzone, object pick up etc. You want to make the player have to go here to pick up a key then there to press this button so on. Using your map as an example. That larger area with the path through it, why not put some obsticals like a low fence, or wall make a bottleneck where there is only one way the player can go to get to that area. Then in order to get through the entrance he has to do task A or kill Enemy B. On the other end with the entrance that looks like a shooting range. You could put a wall with some windows and a door there at the grassline and make that first little area an office. Maybe the player has to find some files as an objective and thats where he'll find them. Maybe there is an enemy in the office who once you kill him he drops the key to get into the shooting range. Maybe you could put a vent with a passageway to another part of the map. Those are just examples, my point is in order to design a game thats immersive and fun to play, you have to give the player a job to do, and a path to get there. Check out some of the WIPs that always gives me inspiration for new ideas.

Looks like you're running on a tiny laptop.
Is this true?
Because that's why you're levels are running slow...

Yea tri I was drawing a blank on the story line. I started the map with a different story in mind. In mid design it took on a life of it's own. I wanted to get input from others and you need a story before you can post a wip. So that's what I came up with.

Easy.

If you make a hallway longer than 7 segments, you're doing it wrong.
